Levy Will Resign As Buffalo's GM

Oct 21, 2014 6:45 PM

Marv Levy, the charismatic coach who led the Buffalo Bills to an unprecedented four straight Super Bowls but couldn't revive a struggling franchise, told the team Monday that he will resign as the team's general manager. Bills' safety George Wilson told The Associated Press that Levy opened the team's wrap-up meeting with a five-minute address during which he said he won't return as GM. Following a meeting this week between Bills' owner Ralph Wilson Jr. and the 82-year-old Levy, a mutual decision was made that Levy would step down as Bills' GM, sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Bills' Everett Attends Buffalo's Final Home Game

Oct 31, 2014 3:42 PM

Less than four months after sustaining a severe spinal cord injury on the turf at Ralph Wilson Stadium, Bills' tight end Kevin Everett made a triumphant return Sunday to the scene of that awful September day when his career ended in the blink of an eye. Everett addressed his teammates about two hours before their game against the New York Giants for 15 minutes, then left the locker room in a wheelchair and, on his own power, climbed into a covered electric car. He was driven to team owner Ralph Wilson's suite at midfield. When he arrived at the suite, Everett was immediately recognized by fans and concession workers who began applauding as he exited the vehicle. Everett smiled and waved but didn't say anything. Fitting his quiet personality, Everett didn't want to draw attention to himself with his first return. There was no press conference. There was no walk on the field for the fans. The moments were reserved for Everett and his teammates.

Bills Preparing For Everett To Attend Home Finale

May 17, 2014 10:23 PM

The Bills are making plans for tight end Kevin Everett to attend the team's home finale Sunday, which would be his first trip back to Buffalo since sustaining a serious spinal cord injury. "We're working on it, but we're not positive," Bills' General Manager Marv Levy told The Associated Press late Wednesday. Levy said the invitation was extended by Russ Brandon, the team's Executive Vice President of Business Operations. Brandon did not immediately return a message. Attending the game against the New York Giants would mark the latest step in Everett's remarkable recovery. The player was initially paralyzed from the neck down while attempting to tackle Domenik Hixon during a kickoff return in the Bills' season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sept. 9. Hixon, who now plays for the Giants, was told Wednesday that Everett is supposed to attend the game Hixon's agent Eric Metz said. "Nothing formal has been set yet, but I'm sure they'll meet up," Metz said.

Bills' Parrish Gets Five-Year Extension

Oct 22, 2014 4:01 PM

The Buffalo Bills signed receiver Roscoe Parrish to a contract extension late Friday. The length of the extension was not immediately disclosed. Parrish was about to enter the final year of a four-year deal he signed after the club drafted him in the second round of the 2005 draft. He was set to make a base salary of $520,000 in 2008. The diminutive receiver, who has a league-leading 17.5-yard punt return average, has emerged as one of Buffalo's top offensive threats. Parrish has recorded a touchdown in three different categories this season ? rushing, receiving and punt return. Parrish has already broken the team record for punt return yards in a season with 386. His 936 career punt return yards rank second in franchise history; he needs 110 yards to move into first place.

Bills' Wilson Will Miss Regular Season

Jun 19, 2014 8:22 AM

Bills' safety George Wilson will miss the rest of the regular season with two broken ribs, but the team has no immediate plans to place him on injured reserve while it remains alive in the AFC playoff race. Coach Dick Jauron said Monday the first-year starter was scheduled to be released from a Buffalo-area hospital later in the day after he was held overnight for observation. Wilson was hurt when he was hit hard trying to catch a short kickoff late in the first quarter of Buffalo's 38-17 win over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Wilson, who muffed the kickoff, returned for a few defensive plays in the second quarter before missing the rest of the game. Rather than place Wilson on season-ending IR, Jauron said the team -- already thin at defensive back -- will keep its options open with him on the active roster.

Bills Keep Dolphins Winless With 38-17 Rout

Oct 31, 2014 6:07 AM

The Miami Dolphins confirmed they are the worst team in football this season -- and maybe ever -- by making Buffalo's popgun offense and banged-up defense look spectacular in dropping their 13th straight game. Rookie Trent Edwards' four touchdown passes -- two each to Lee Evans and Robert Royal -- were the most since Drew Bledsoe had that many for Buffalo in 2004, leading Buffalo to a 38-17 win over the woeful Dolphins on Sunday. The Bills' running attack produced two 100-yard rushers for the first time since 1996, with Fred Jackson having 115 and Marshawn Lynch adding 107. Buffalo's defense did its part, racking up a season-high five sacks and forcing four turnovers, including safety George Wilson returning rookie quarterback John Beck's fumble 20 yards for a score. Buffalo (7-6) won for the sixth time in eight games to stay in the AFC playoff hunt while preparing for a key game at Cleveland next weekend.

Source: Bills' Everett Walking On His Own

Sep 23, 2014 4:48 AM

Kevin Everett is walking on his own at a Houston rehab center, the latest significant progress by the Buffalo Bills' tight end in his remarkable recovery from a serious spinal cord injury. "He doesn't have a full natural stride but, yeah, he's walking," a person close to the family told The Associated Press on Friday. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of Everett's status.

Season Over For Bills' Thomas; Lynch Might Play

May 28, 2014 5:16 AM

Anthony Thomas' season is over after the Buffalo Bills placed the veteran running back on injured reserve Thursday with a torn calf muscle. The team might have rookie starter Marshawn Lynch back for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins, however. Thomas, the NFL rookie of the year in 2001, had missed one game after being hurt in a 36-14 loss at Jacksonville on Nov. 25. In his second season with Buffalo, Thomas was being used in third-down situations and as a backup to Lynch. Thomas had 36 carries for 89 yards and added 15 catches for 95 yards and a touchdown in 10 games, including two starts this year. He became the 13th Bills' player placed on IR this season, with the move coming as Buffalo (6-6) prepares to host the Dolphins (0-12). The good news is Lynch could be ready to return after missing the past three games with a sprained left ankle. Lynch practiced Thursday in full pads for the first time since he was hurt, leading Coach Dick Jauron to say he's "optimistic" Lynch will be ready to play.
