Bills Have Open Competition At No. 2 Quarterback

Aug 14, 2023 8:09 AM

The Buffalo Bills aren't sure what they have behind Josh Allen at quarterback.

Sean McDermott said after Buffalo's preseason opener that there is an open competition for the No. 2 quarterback job.

Kyle Allen got the start against the Indianapolis Colts.

Allen completed eight of 15 passes for 122 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception, while Matt Barkley completed 14 of 15 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns, in four drives.

They're both on one-year deals. Barkley is getting $1.25 million, and Allen is making $1.232 million. Barkley has $235,000 guaranteed; Allen gets $350,000 guaranteed.

Damar Hamlin Battles Nerves In Return

Aug 13, 2023 12:37 PM

When Damar Hamlin was younger, he would get very nervous before games, so much so that he wouldn't be able to do anything else. His dad, Mario, told him that it was a good thing to be nervous. "'You know that mean you care. That mean you ready,'" Damar Hamlin recalled his father saying.

The Buffalo Bills' preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, a 23-19 victory Saturday, marked the 25-year-old's first football game since suffering cardiac arrest during a regular-season matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals on Jan. 2.

Bills Already Facing $300M In Overruns On New Stadium

Aug 9, 2023 7:30 PM

The Buffalo Bills are already facing $300 million in overruns for their new stadium despite construction having only begun three months ago.

What was initially estimated to cost $1.4 billion in March 2022, and increased to $1.54 billion months later, is now projected to have jumped to $1.65 billion and approaching $1.7 billion.

The Bills are contractually obligated to cover any overruns.

Bills COO John Roth called the projections premature and speculative at best.

"We don't know enough yet to confirm this," Roth told the AP on Wednesday, noting only a small percentage of the contracts and bids have been completed.

Roth took over three weeks ago after Ron Raccuia was abruptly fired.
