Titans Have Offers For No. 5 Pick, May Move Down

Apr 26, 2017 8:08 AM

The Tennessee Titans have multiple offers for the No. 5 pick and are considering moving down.

The Titans traded the first overall pick to the Los Angeles Rams so they could take Jared Goff last year. They then traded back up with the Cleveland Browns to select Jack Conklin.

In addition to the fifth pick, the Titans have No. 18 and an extra third-rounder. They do not have a second-round selection.

Browns Have Discussed Trading Up With Three Teams In Top 8

Apr 26, 2017 8:19 AM

The Cleveland Browns, who own the No. 1 and No. 12 picks, have had discussions with at least three teams in the top eight about moving up.

The Browns are in need of a franchise quarterback and are expected to take Myles Garrett first overall. They could use the 12th pick and other assets to improve their second selection in order to take a quarterback.

Michael Silver of the NFL Network speculates that the Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and Carolina Panthers could move a pick to Cleveland.

Patriots Likely To Keep Malcolm Butler

Apr 24, 2017 11:52 AM

The New England Patriots are unlikely to trade Malcolm Butler this offseason.

Butler signed a one-year, $3.91 million tender with the Patriots last Wednesday, which means New England has the opportunity to trade him.

Butler visited the New Orleans Saints earlier in the offseason.

If Butler had signed an offer sheet with the Saints and the Patriots didn't match, the Saints would have had to surrender their first-round pick in the 2017 draft (11th overall) to New England.

Butler and the Patriots discussed a long-term extension this offseason.

Patriots Won't Trade Jimmy Garoppolo This Offseason

Apr 23, 2017 8:53 PM

The New England Patriots have no plans to trade Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason.

With Tom Brady planning to play for several more seasons, the Patriots figured to explore his trade market.

The Patriots haven't come off their asking price for Garoppolo.

New England could conceivably use the franchise tag on Garoppolo next offseason even if he remains their backup quarterback.

Raiders Remain Interested In Acquiring Marshawn Lynch

Apr 21, 2017 7:08 PM

The Oakland Raiders remain interested in acquiring Marshawn Lynch from the Seattle Seahawks.

"At some point you'd like to know and prior to the draft is that point," Reggie McKenzie said Friday during a media conference to preview the draft. "Our door is open and we're not shutting the door until that time, pretty much.

"Never going to say never, but the door is still open."

There's the issue of Lynch's rights still being owned by the Seattle Seahawks and Lynch, should he be acquired by Oakland, agreeing to more of an incentive-based contract since his current deal has him due a salary cap number of $9 million in 2017 and a base salary of $7 million in 2018.

Seahawks Don't Expect To Trade Richard Sherman

Apr 21, 2017 9:33 AM

The Seattle Seahawks will continue to listen to offers for Richard Sherman, but they no longer anticipate moving the cornerback.

"Right now, I don't think the odds (of a trade) are very good," John Schneider told KIRO-AM in Seattle. "But if somebody comes cruising along and something happens, and we do something, it happens."

The Seahawks have been in contact with Sherman about the process.

"We have constant communication with him. I talked to him this evening," Schneider said. "So it's cool. Everything's fine. I just think that the only reason we would do it is to basically create some cap room and try to become a younger football team. But that's just one option."

Hue Jackson Prefers Myles Garrett For Browns At No. 1

Apr 15, 2017 8:59 PM

Hue Jackson reportedly prefers the Cleveland Browns to select Myles Garrett with the first overall pick rather than a quarterback.

Garrett is widely considered the best prospect in the 2017 NFL Draft.

"It's not even close between Garrett and (Mitchell) Trubisky," an NFL executive told the Plain-Dealer.

The Browns could be creating a smokescreen in order to trade down from No. 1 if they receive an attractive enough package.

Raiders, Seahawks Expected To Work Out Marshawn Lynch Trade

Apr 14, 2017 8:53 AM

The Seattle Seahawks and Oakland Raiders are expected to work out a trade involving Marshawn Lynch, but the running back must first re-work his contract.

According to a report, Lynch's agents have permission from the Seahawks to discuss adjusting his deal with the Raiders. Lynch signed a three-year, $31 million contract in 2015, which would pay approximately $9 million in 2017 if he came out of retirement. Oakland would want to lower that number.
