Seantrel Henderson Facing 10-Game Ban As He Treats Crohn's Disease

Nov 27, 2016 3:01 PM

Seantrel Henderson of the Buffalo Bills is facing a 10-game suspension for a second violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.

Henderson, 24, missed the first four games of the season for his initial violation of the substance abuse policy.

Henderson missed the final five games of last season after he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Henderson's agent said the positive test was due to medical marijuana being used to treat the issue.

Henderson discussed medical marijuana use in treating Crohn's disease during an interview with the Buffalo News in October.

"I've got doctors telling me this is the No. 1 medicine that would help your disease," Henderson told the newspaper. "You try to tell that to the league, and it seems like they didn't care too much."

Sammy Watkins Expected To Play For First Time Since Sept. 15

Nov 26, 2016 11:34 AM

Sammy Watkins is expected to play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

"I think he's good to go," Rex Ryan said. "He won't have a full workload, but we're definitely going to get him in there."

Watkins last played in a Sept. 15 loss to the New York Jets before he was sidelined by lingering soreness stemming from offseason surgery to repair a broken bone in his left foot.

Watkins was listed as a limited participant in practice this week, and offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn said Friday that he has not yet committed to implementing Watkins in his game plan.

"He's about three-quarters speed," Lynn said. "He's still quick off his breaks. His long speed, his conditioning wasn't there. He was on a pitch count in practice. But it was just encouraging to see him back out on the football field."

Rex Ryan Calls No-Call On Richard Sherman 'Ridiculous'

Nov 8, 2016 8:21 AM

There were several minutes of confusion in the first half of Monday night's game between the Buffalo Bills and Seattle Seahawks leading up to a missed 54-yard field goal.

The issue began over whether Richard Sherman should have been penalized for unnecessary roughness against Carpenter.

"Ridiculous," Rex Ryan said. "Absolutely ridiculous. [Officials' explanation] doesn't matter [because] it was wrong. It's clear what happened: The guy roughed our kicker. Jumps offside and roughs our kicker."

Carpenter, initially attempting a 53-yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining in the half, appeared to be injured when Sherman went offside and fell into Carpenter's legs. The play was blown dead because of Sherman's penalty. Sherman also appeared to get away with an unnecessary roughness penalty that wasn't called by Walt Anderson's officiating crew.

Anderson defended his decision after the game.

"I didn't feel like the actions and the contact, because we were shutting the play down, warranted a foul," he told a pool reporter after the game, adding that the stadium was "loud" and that Sherman might not have known officials had blown the play dead.

"One of the things we're just looking for is, does the player have a chance to realize that we're shutting the play down from that standpoint," Anderson said, "and whether or not he has an opportunity to avoid any type of contact once he realizes that we're getting the play shut down."
