Russell Wilson, Seahawks Pessimistic On Deal Before Camp

Jul 30, 2015 4:11 PM

There is pessimism that the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson will reach agreement on an extension before their self-imposed deadline.

Wilson and the Seahawks have been in talks trying to get a deal done.

The gap between the two sides is based on cash up front and guaranteed money. Most of the significant guarantees in the current discussions are for injury only.

Wilson has stated several times he's willing to play out the final year of his rookie contract, which pays him a $1.54 million base salary.

ESPN Changes QBR Formula, Wilson Jumps From 12th To 8th In Rankings

Jul 28, 2015 10:52 AM

ESPN has made some changes to their formula for total QBR, which has become a widely used metric to evaluate quarterbacks.

How interception returns, pressure and credit for yards after the catch are factored were changed.

Russell Wilson's QBR increased by 8.2 points, moving him from 12th to eighth in the rankings. Wilson was one of the top players in the NFL when under pressure.

Aaron Rodgers' QBR decreased by 5.2 points, but he remained ranked second. Rodgers' QBR decreased due to how the new formula handles yards after the catch.

Russell Okung Will Test Free Agency Without Agent

Jul 20, 2015 2:23 PM

Russell Okung plans to negotiate his next contract without an agent.

Okung will be a free agent next offseason.

“I know my worth. I can look at the market and go directly to a team without an agent and tell that team my worth,” he said. “And I can do so with confidence because I’ve done my research, I’ve educated myself and I’ve questioned the answers I’ve been given. And when it comes to reviewing the details of my next deal, I’ll hire an expert — a lawyer or a sports attorney who understands the dynamic of football contracts — to read the paperwork. I’ll negotiate a one-time flat fee that isn’t dependent on the size of my salary.”

Okung will save himself the standard three percent commission an agent can receive.

Russell Wilson Remains Confident Contract Will Be Resolved

Jul 16, 2015 1:58 PM

Russell Wilson continues to believe his contract standoff with the Seattle Seahawks will work out.

"I love Seattle, it's a great city," Wilson continued. "I'm going to play my butt off every day. That's all I know, and we'll see what happens."

Little has changed since June with Wilson's contract negotiations.

"Well, he's crucial, as are all of our guys, and we want him back playing for us forever," Carroll said. "There's a lot of work being done. It's underway right now and maybe it happens, I don't know. We're hoping for it."

Russell Wilson Would Make $34.6M In 2018 If Franchised Three Times

Jul 8, 2015 10:42 AM

Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks continue to each take a hardline in their contract talks.

The Seahawks can use the exclusive franchise tag on him for 2016, which would give him an approximate contract worth $20 million.

Doing so again in 2017 would increase the figure to around $24 million.

If the Seahawks used the tag on him for a third season for 2018, it would likely rise to $34.6 million.
