Mike Holmgren will not rejoin the Seahawks after rejecting an offer from the team to take over a leadership position.
"After a series of respectful discussions, Mike has declined our offer to rejoin the team given the structure we proposed," Seahawks CEO Tod Leiweke said in a statement. "We hold Mike in high regard and wish the Holmgren family the very best with their new horizons."
Holmgren has been in contact with the Browns about a front office position.
"I sincerely thank Paul Allen and Tod for all their support over the years," Holmgren said in a statement. "I thank them for reaching out to me and we conclude these discussions as friends."

Holmgren Wants To Talk With Seahawks
Mike Holmgren wants to talk with the Seahawks about returning to Seattle.
Seattle's former coach and one-time general manager said on his weekly radio show Friday that he'd like to talk with the club about becoming the team's GM and perhaps president.
"Absolutely, I would like to talk to them," Holmgren said on KJR AM from Arizona.
The general manager and president titles became vacant on Thursday when Tim Ruskell resigned.
Holmgren No Lock To Rejoin Seahawks
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Mike Holmgren's return to Seattle isn't a foregone conclusion.
"Not so fast on Mike Holmgren to Seattle. Seahawks hired NY search firm Spencer Stuart to assist them in hiring Pres/GM," Schefter wrote on his Twitter page.
Seattle general manager Tim Ruskell resigned earlier this week.
Ruskell Explains Resignation As GM Of Seahawks
Tim Ruskell is stepping down as general manager of the Seahawks.
"We were getting ready to go into those meetings about free agency and the offseason," Ruskell said. "If I am not going to spearhead those meetings and it wasn't going to happen no matter what our record was, you become a lame duck. And I did not want that."
Jones Is Still Seattle's Starting Rusher
Justin Forsett has been impressive, but Seahawks coach Jim Mora says that Julius Jones is still the team's starting running back.
Forsett has rushed for more than 100 yards in two of the team's last three games.
"Julius is our starting running back," Mora said. "He's our starting running back. That's what he is."
Jones hasn't played since suffering a bruised lung in the first quarter of Seattle's game at Arizona on Nov. 15.
