Seahawks Frustrated By HGH Tests During SB Week

Jan 29, 2015 8:21 PM

Earl Thomas was frustrated he had to undergo an HGH test on Thursday.

Thomas was wearing a bandage on his right arm during media access after submitting to a blood draw.

"Yesterday I said my shoulder was a 10 ... Wake up the next morning and I have a blood test for HGH .. League office distraction," wrote Thomas on Twitter.

Another Seattle Seahawks' player told ESPN that many players are mad about it.

"We are being treated like criminals, tested like people on parole," the player said.

28 NFL Teams Have Hired New Offensive Coordinator In Past Two Seasons

Jan 29, 2015 11:24 AM

The carousel for NFL coordinators is far quicker than that of head coaches.

Darrell Bevell and Josh McDaniels, offensive coordinators for the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, are two of the longest tenured in the NFL.

Bevell has been with the Seahawks for four seasons, making him the second-longest-tenured coordinator in the NFC behind Pete Carmichael of the New Orleans Saints.

McDaniels and Todd Haley have been with their teams for three seasons, making them the longest-tenured offensive coordinators in the AFC.

Every other NFL team has hired at least one new offensive coordinator within the past two offseasons.

Seahawks Don't Regret Percy Harvin Trade

Jan 28, 2015 1:16 PM

The Seattle Seahawks don't regret trading Percy Harvin to the New York Jets in the middle of the 2014 regular season.

"Percy is a unique player, so you have to use him in a unique fashion," Seahawks general manager John Schneider said during Media Day on Tuesday. "So, we kind of just got back to playing more basic: Run the ball and hammer it out, read- option. Getting back to a little bit more up field instead of horizontal."

Harvin's sometimes rocky relationship with a few teammates came to light in the wake of the trade, but Schneider admitted it wasn't easy to part ways with such an explosive talent.

"It was difficult, but we had talked to ownership about it," Schneider said. "When you have support of the ownership, it makes it that much easier. So, he knew there were several reasons why it may not work out. As long as we're communicating with ownership in that regard and explaining why it didn't work out, it's much easier to do than waking up in the morning and saying, 'Hey, we're going to do this.'"

Belichick: No Coach I Respect More Than Pete Carroll

Jan 28, 2015 11:34 AM

Bill Belichick gave big praise to Pete Carroll when asked about his relationship with his Super Bowl counterpart.

"Good. Great," Belichick said. "Not a coach in the NFL I respect more than Pete Carroll. He's a tremendous coach. He and I have kind of come up together in roughly the same era. We've both been defensive coordinators, we've both been head coaches.

"I have a ton of respect for what Pete does as a coach, how good of a fundamental teacher he is, the way his teams play. I've studied him from afar -- we've never worked together. Studied Pete from afar over a long period of time. I've learned a lot from what he does, and indirectly, I think he's made me a better coach. I have all the respect in the world for Pete and his staff."

Carroll: Marshawn Lynch Is A Treasure

Jan 27, 2015 5:21 PM

Marshawn Lynch spent five minutes answering questions from the media on Tuesday.

"I'm here so I won't get fined," said Lynch after every question.

Lynch famously does not enjoy speaking to the media and has been fined in the past for refusing to comply with NFL rules.

“I don’t think he’s being misunderstood,” Pete Carroll said. “I think people are starting to learn about who he is and what he’s all about. He’s a treasure.”

Carroll works hard in celebrating the uniqueness of the personalities on his team.

“I’ll say this, and let me say it again,” Carroll said Monday, when asked how he handles Lynch. “We still celebrate the uniqueness of our players. We celebrate the way that they see the world as they fit in with our football team.”
