Michael Bennett Fined $17,363 For Hit On Alex Smith

Aug 28, 2015 11:54 PM

Michael Bennett has been fined $17,363 for striking Alex Smith in the head and neck area.

Bennett's hit drew a roughing the passer flag during the Chiefs' first offensive play of a 14-13 victory last week.

Bennett previously said quarterbacks receive preferential treatment.

"Then quarterbacks get protected more than any other player," Bennett said. "I mean, he gets hit in his knees and he's about to cry, making a whimpering sound: 'They hit me in my legs.' Everybody gets hit in their legs. Every play somebody tries to hit me in my legs. So what makes him different? What makes his life better than mine? I've got kids. I've got stuff I like to do on the weekend.

"But because he gets hit in his legs, he gets a flag. He gets up with a sad face like the world just ended because he got hit. I mean, you got hit in an NFL game. Who cares? Get back up and be like, 'Good job.'"

NFL Drops $75k Fine Against Marshawn Lynch If He Complies With Media

Aug 27, 2015 5:24 PM

Marshawn Lynch and the NFL have canceled a hearing intended to address a $75,000 fine he received last season.

The NFL expects Lynch to comply with their media access policy going forward and he won't have to pay the fine if he does so.

Pro Football Talk reported that the fine stemmed from two separate incidents: Lynch making an obscene gesture during the NFC Championship Game against the Packers and then not talking to the media afterward.

Russell Wilson Claims 'Recovery Water' Cured Head Injury

Aug 26, 2015 1:26 PM

Russell Wilson credits Recovery Water for healing his head injury suffered in the NFC Championship Game on a hit from Clay Matthews.

In a lengthy profile in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, Wilson claims the water, which the company he’s working with sells for $3 a bottle, caused his brain to recover from what could have been a serious injury.

“I banged my head during the Packers game in the playoffs, and the next day I was fine,” Wilson said. “It was the water.”

Wilson insists that the Recovery Water “works well,” and that a teammate used the water to heal a knee injury.

Wilson admits he can’t prove that it works.

“Well, we’re not saying we have real medical proof,” Wilson said.

Michael Bennett: Only QBs Get Paid For Being Mediocre

Aug 26, 2015 11:23 AM

Michael Bennett had a candid interview talking about how quarterbacks are treated differently financially and in regards to the rules.

“Aaron Rodgers is probably the best quarterback in the NFL,” Bennett said. “But quarterback is the only position in the NFL where you can be mediocre and get paid. At every other position you can’t be mediocre. If I was like Ryan Tannehill, and say the most games I ever won was seven, how could you get $100 million for that?”

Bennett also commented on the protection quarterbacks receive in regards to how they're hit.

“I respect Tom Brady because when Tom Brady gets hit, he gets up and says, ‘Good job, good hit. He gets back in the huddle and handles his own, like a man. You have guys crying when they get hit like, ‘Oh, Suggs, Suggs hit me.'”

Darrell Bevell Wouldn't Change Super Bowl Play Call

Aug 20, 2015 11:03 AM

Darrell Bevell, offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks, will always be haunted by the play call that led to Malcolm Butler picking off Russell Wilson, but he wouldn't change it.

"It's never going to leave you," Bevell said. "That play we called will always be there to drive me. I wouldn't change it, I think it was the right thing. Coach (Pete) Carroll has done a great job with it as well. I think to answer your question, in terms of totally moving on, that night is rough, the next morning is rough, getting on the plane is rough, but as soon as I got here and I was able to watch it for myself on the tape and see our copy and look at it that way and do the analyzing of it, once that was over I was able to put it behind me. I'm okay. I really am."

According to Bevell, however, players have moved on and the play has galvanized them in 2015.

"I think the players are probably more ... I don't know what the best word is ... I think they are driven, I think they are upset, all those kinds of things. It's good to get back to work," he said.

Agent: Kam Chancellor Won't End Holdout Without New Deal

Aug 21, 2015 11:45 AM

Kam Chancellor's agent says his client's holdout won't come to an end unless the Seattle Seahawks address his contract concerns.

"Nothing has changed. He will not report without his contract being addressed this season," agent Alvin Keels told ESPN's Josina Anderson. "The team and I have been in contact, but we haven't been able to agree on any compromise."

Chancellor has three years and $16.88 million remaining on the four-year, $28 million extension he signed before the 2013 season.

John Schneider told SiriusXM NFL Radio earlier this month that "at the end of the day, you have to stick to your plan and your principle," an indication that the Seahawks would adhere to their policy of not completely redoing a second contract with more than a year remaining.

On Saturday, Carroll was asked if the ongoing holdout surprises him: "No, because he's very strong minded. He's wanted to make a very clear statement, which he's doing."
