Darrell Bevell: This Is What Seahawks Have Hoped For And Expected

Dec 17, 2015 1:03 PM

Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell talked about Russell Wilson’s recent run of excellent play.

“This is what we hoped for and expected early in the year, where we thought we could be as an offense," said Bevell. "I just think that we’re really executing at a high level right now. It starts up front, but it’s probably just really cliché to say, but they are really functioning as one group. Those 11 guys are working really well. There’s no one guy that’s doing more than the other. They’re all playing at a really high level, they’re all doing their job, doing their job very well. You can see the effect that is happening right now.”

The Seahawks have ad more diversity over the past four weeks.

“I think that’s something that you’re always striving for. We’re always talking about being able to run the football and when you can start to run the football, it creates so many more opportunities for you and so many different things become open for you. Our down the field passing game becomes open, some of our movement passing game comes open, and then we can mix in some of those quick passes. For me, it really starts with us being able to run the football as well as we do, then everything else is created off of that.”

Christine Michael Returns To Seahawks

Dec 16, 2015 8:27 PM

Christine Michael has returned to the Seattle Seahawks, signing with the team on Wednesday.

Michael was traded to the Dallas Cowboys in August and carried 15 times for 51 yards before he was released.

Michael has a chance to contribute with Thomas Rawls out for the season.

"He's been with us for a long time, so he does have a lot of background," Pete Carroll said. "That doesn't mean he's going to be the featured guy or starter or anything like that. He's just coming in here and trying to help us out, and we'll see how that works out. But it is good to be able to pull somebody in that has that kind of background."

Seahawks Agree To Re-Sign Bryce Brown

Dec 14, 2015 10:40 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to re-sign Bryce Brown.

Brown has been on and off the Seahawks' roster several times this season but has yet to be active for a game.

The Seahawks lost Thomas Rawls for the season in Week 14.

The Buffalo Bills cut Brown in September after acquiring him in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. The running back has averaged 4.4 yards per carry for 1,004 yards during his career.

Thomas Rawls Out For Season With Broken Ankle, Torn Ligaments

Dec 13, 2015 7:40 PM

Thomas Rawls will miss the remainder of the season with a broken ankle and torn ligaments.

"I think the torn ligaments are really the problem," Pete Carroll said. "I don't think he's going to have to have an operation, from what I understand."

Rawls suffered the injury in the first quarter.

Rawls' season ends with 830 yards on 147 rushes.

The Seattle Seahawks hope Marshawn Lynch will be able to return from his sports hernia injury.

"We'll see how Marshawn does," Carroll said. "He was back in rehabbing with us. We'll see where he is. He's got a chance to get back.

"It's all about getting back in shape and getting right. I don't know what that timetable is at this point. Our trainers can't tell yet. That'll be the next thing we look forward to and see how that works. And in the meantime, we'll figure it out."

Marshawn Lynch Rehabbing 'At Large', Not Close To Returning

Dec 8, 2015 3:51 PM

Marshawn Lynch is two weeks removed from surgery for a sports hernia injury but he's not close to returning to action.

"The report’s that he’s doing really well," Carroll said. "He’s left Philadelphia now, so we’ll see how it goes the next few weeks, see how he comes around. It’s so much to ask him to jump back after three weeks. I don’t even know how we could think that way. This is Week 3 starting up, so we’ll see how it goes."

Lynch underwent surgery in Philadelphia on Nov. 25.

"I haven’t talked to him, so I’m not sure where we are with that right now," Carroll said. "Right now it’s still rehab."

Asked where Lynch is rehabbing, Carroll said, "I’m not going to report on that. He’s at large. ...You don’t want me to tell anybody where you are, right?"

BYU Interested In Seahawks' OC Darrell Bevell

Dec 7, 2015 4:02 PM

Darrell Bevell is a candidate for the head coaching vacancy at BYU.

Bevell is currently offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks.

Bevell attended Wisconsin and has no ties to the BYU program. But he is Mormon and took a two-year mission while in college.

After Sunday’s 38-point outburst, Pete Carroll praised the job performance of Bevell this year.

“I think he’s doing what he’s always done,” Carroll said. “I know at times there’s been this talk about him, but he’s a great play caller and he’s a great play designer. He and [Tom] Cable put together game plans every week. I think everybody is feeling what’s best for us, we’re getting to it, we’re practicing it well and then carrying it to games. Those guys are really responsible for that. They’re doing a great job.”
