Niners Want To Get Extensions Done For Deebo Samuel, Nick Bosa

Feb 2, 2022 8:38 AM

The San Francisco 49ers want to get contract extensions done for Deebo Samuel and Nick Bosa this offseason.

John Lynch said long-term deals for both players have been "budgeted for."

"And so, just to get it out of the way, with he and Nick, we fully understand these guys are pillars of what we're trying to do here," Lynch said.

"We've been blessed that we've been aggressive, because we've had a lot of players that we believe are some of the best in the league at what they do. And these guys are no different. And so we have really good lines of communication with their representatives. Those will continue, I'm not going to put any timelines on it, but obviously, planning has been done to account for those guys. And yes, there's some interesting dynamics with Deebo playing multiple positions, but the bottom line, he's an excellent football player. And so, I'm sure that we'll find a way to get that done and like I said, it's been budgeted for."

Jimmy Garoppolo Hopes Trade Is To Winning Team

Feb 2, 2022 8:27 AM

Jimmy Garoppolo delivered what many believed to be a farewell message to San Francisco 49ers fans on Tuesday.

"It's been a hell of a ride," Garoppolo said at the end of a lengthy Zoom session. "I love you guys. See ya."

San Francisco lost to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game. They traded up to draft Trey Lance last spring, leading to speculation that Garoppolo's time with the franchise was dwindling.

Garoppolo expects to be traded, hopes to have a say in where he lands and knows what he wants in his next organization.

"I was talking to John yesterday about finding the right destination and whatever the future holds, just doing it the right way," Garoppolo said. "I've got a long career ahead of me. I'm excited about it. I'm excited about the opportunities to come. I just want to go to a place where they want to win. That's really what I'm in this game for. I'm here to play football, win football games and as long as I've got that and good people around me, I think the rest will take care of itself."
