Patriots Acquire Trent Brown From 49ers

Apr 27, 2018 1:01 PM

The New England Patriots have acquired Trent Brown and the No. 143 overall pick from the San Francisco 49ers for the No. 95 overall pick.

Brown traveled to New England on Thursday to undergo a physical.

Brown is considered one of the NFL's best pass-blocking offensive tackles. Brown's contract expires after this season and the 49ers are looking for more of a physical run-blocking tackle. The 49ers selected Mike McGlinchey with their first round pick.

Brown landed on injured reserve last December with a shoulder injury that required surgery.

The Patriots, who had success in 2017 with a four-man depth chart at offensive tackle, are in a state of transition at the position with starting left tackle Nate Solder (Giants) and top swing tackle Cameron Fleming (Cowboys) departing in free agency.

49ers Could Part Ways With Reuben Foster

Apr 24, 2018 8:37 AM

Reuben Foster's roster spot with the San Francisco 49ers is in jeopardy after he was charged with three felonies resulting from a February arrest related to an alleged domestic violence incident.

Foster isn't participating in team activities while he deals with his legal matters.

John Lynch said Monday that Foster could rejoin the 49ers if circumstances change, but he'll be cut loose if found guilty.

"The gravity of these charges has not been lost on us," Lynch said. "We take it extremely seriously. We do feel like patience is the right approach right now. We're gonna learn things through this legal process. I do want to be abundantly clear that if these charges are proven true, if Reuben did indeed hit this young lady, he will not be part of this organization going forward."

Reuben Foster Charged With Three Felonies In Domestic Violence Case

Apr 12, 2018 9:57 PM

Reuben Foster has been charged with three felonies in a domestic violence incident from February.

Foster is alleged to have “dragged” his live-in girlfriend “by her hair, physically threw her out of the house, and punched her in the head 8 to 10 times,” rupturing her eardrum.

Foster also faces felony charges of forcefully attempting to dissuade a witness and possession of an assault weapon, and misdemeanor possession of a high-capacity magazine in connection with a Sig Sauer 516 short-barreled rifle authorities seized from his home. If convicted of all charges, he could go to prison for nearly 11 years.

The 49ers did not mention any intention to cut Foster in their statement.

“The 49ers organization is aware of today’s disturbing charges regarding Reuben Foster,” the statement reads. “We will continue to follow this serious matter. Reuben is aware that his place in our organization is under great scrutiny and will depend on what is learned through the legal process.”

Foster was the 31st overall pick in the first round last year with his stock falling due to injury concerns and possibly off-the-field issues.
