The San Francisco 49ers have signed Laken Tomlinson to a three-year contract extension.

The deal is worth a max of $18 million with $10 million guaranteed to Tomlinson.

Tomlinson started 15 games at left guard for the Niners in 2017 after coming over in a trade with the Detroit Lions in late August.

J.J. Wilcox was on the verge of signing with the San Francisco 49ers when he changed his mind.

Wilcox is now expected to sign with the New York Jets, according to sources.

The reversal stunned the 49ers. He had agreed to terms on a one-year contract and was meeting with the team's defensive backs coach before practice earlier this week.

Wilcox was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers on April 30.

The 27-year-old was acquired by the Steelers in a trade last year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who had signed him as a free agent.

Dwight Clark has passed away at the age of 61 after a lengthy battle with ALS.

Clark announced his diagnosis in March of 2017.

Clark was a two-time Pro Bowler and best known for his game-winning catch in the 1981 NFC Championship Game.
