Rogers Hopes He's Next To Get Deal From 49ers
Carlos Rogers hopes to follow the same route as fellow 49ers defender Ahmad Brooks, who avoided free agency with an extension earlier this week.
"I'm hoping we get somthing done so I don't test free agency," Rogers told SiriusXM NFL Radio.
If the 49ers can't reach a long-term contract with Rogers, they could put the franchise tag on him. The tag for cornerbacks is $10.6 million this year.
Rogers came to the 49ers on a one-year, $4.25 million deal last season and garnered his first Pro Bowl berth.
"As cornerbacks, we know our market value," he said.
49ers Give Brooks $44.5M Extension
The 49ers have locked up linebacker Ahmad Brooks with a $44.5 million contract extension.
The linebacker signed a six-year, $44.5 million contract extension with San Francisco on Tuesday that will take him through the 2017 season.
The deal is worth $17.5 million guaranteed, said his agent, Greg Williams.
"Something was telling me just to sign here. I feel like this is where I should be," said Brooks, who could've opted for free agency. "These are the people who gave me a chance to get this contract."

Mike Wallace Openly Flirts With 49ers, Patriots
The Steelers are worried about losing Mike Wallace and the wide receiver appears to be flirting with other clubs.
In an interview with SiriusXM Radio, Wallace, a restricted free agent, discussed the potential of joining either the Patriots or 49ers, who lack a deep threat.
"Most definitely. Those are two playoff caliber teams. Super Bowl caliber teams," Wallace said.
"I think that the right person or the right piece for those guys could put them over the top. All they need is one more piece ... most definitely, those are Super Bowl contending teams."
Wallace later added: "I love being in a winning organization. And the quarterback. I don't care how good you are, you won't do well without a good quarterback."

He is scheduled to make $3.3 million, including a $100,000 workout bonus, a sum of money the 49ers do not appear likely to commit to him in 2012.

"I want to thank Vernon Davis for being here. If you want to come and play for the Bears, you are welcome to do it," the president said in a nod to his favorite team.
