Moss Reports To 49ers With Roster Spot In Doubt

Sep 2, 2014 10:35 PM

Randy Moss didn't attend the first two weeks of San Francisco's offseason program, but he arrived Monday in time for the first on-field coaching session. Matt Maiocco of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reports that coach Jim Harbaugh suggested Moss spend the first two weeks at home. "It was eye opening," Moss said. "Today was the first day and we were moving so fast. Today felt like we'd been out here for a week or two." He will have to get up to speed fast. Barring injuries in front of him, Moss will have a difficult time just making the 49ers.

A.J. Jenkins Didn't Think He'd Be First-Rounder

Sep 3, 2014 12:12 AM

The 49ers drafted A.J. Jenkins late in the first round on Thursday night, a development that surprised even the Illinois wide receiver. Jenkins initially didn't believe it when San Francisco called him to let him know he was their selection. "I didn't know if they were joking or not because during the middle of the draft my cousin had called my phone, but he was playing with me. I thought it was another joke and it's just crazy," Jenkins said. "It was the 49ers. I was so lost for words. I was so out of words. I'm just like, wow, first round?" Jenkins said he had looked at mock drafts that had receivers like Rueben Randle and Stephen Hill going ahead of him, so he assumed he'd have to hear those names before he heard his own. "Yeah, that's been the speculation since the draft began," Jenkins said. "So, I just assumed watching the draft not really expecting to get called tonight honestly."

Oct 11, 2014 7:03 AM

Apparently, there are no hard feelings on 49ers GM Trent Baalke's part regarding the Saints' targeting of San Francisco players in their bounty program. The GM recently reached out to suspended former New Orleans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams to discuss the matter. He and Williams worked together during the 2004 season in Washington and Baalke still considers him a friend. "I don't feel any differently about him today than I did 20 days ago," Baalke said.

Sep 3, 2014 5:02 AM

Brandon Jacobs is hoping to get goal-line carries with the 49ers this season. "Well, being 25 or 35 pounds heavier than Frank [Gore], I'd hope I'll be the one to get it," Jacobs said. "But Frank has done great in that area the last seven years," he added. "We came into the league the same year. He's done great. He has no issue getting in. It's whatever is best for the team."

Williams did not appeal his indefinite suspension by the NFL. As first reported by Yahoo! Sports, documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon has released an audio recording that he says is a speech Williams gave to Saints players the night before the team lost to the 49ers in a playoff game in January.
