Former NFL player Bill Romanowski can continue coaching his 12-year-old son's flag football team after scolding another seventh-grader over what the notorious linebacker considered dirty play, the recreation league's director said Wednesday.
Romanowski, who retired in 2004 after a controversial 16-year career that included stints with the 49ers and Raiders, took over his son's recreation-league squad this fall in Piedmont, an upscale enclave in the Oakland hills.

Niner Report: Gore Expected To Play; Davis Out Four Weeks
Frank Gore is expected to be in the 49ers' lineup at Kansas City on Sunday despite bruised ribs that sidelined him in the third quarter of their loss to Philadelphia. Davis, the sixth overall pick in the draft, will be out four weeks with a broken bone in his right leg.
"I'll be on the field," Gore said. "I'm kind of sore, but I'll be all right."
"These ain't me right here," Davis said, indicating his crutches. "I try to work so hard to prevent something like this. ... I still think I'm invincible. This can't stop me. I'm just going to keep working hard in the weight room and hit the playbook."
49ers Rookie TE Davis Suffers Broken Right Leg
49ers rookie tight end Vernon Davis will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a broken right leg in Sunday's 38-24 loss to the Eagles.
The sixth overall pick out of Maryland, Davis was injured in the third quarter during defensive tackle Mike Patterson's 98-yard fumble return for a touchdown.
"I initially felt it while I was running," Davis said. "I was trying to tackle him, and I felt it pull, and then I pulled up. I didn't make any contact with him, I just felt it pull. That's when the crack must have gone through."
49ers Lose Gore, Davis On Same Play
San Francisco running back Frank Gore and rookie tight end Vernon Davis were injured on the same wacky play Sunday -- a 98-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Philadelphia's Mike Patterson.
49ers And San Francisco Work On Plan For An Olympic Stadium
The 49ers and the group attempting to bring the 2016 Summer Olympic Games to San Francisco have formed a partnership that would make it possible to turn the football team's proposed new stadium at Candlestick Point into an Olympic stadium.
A temporary platform 12 feet above the football field and 20,000 additional seats would enable the stadium to hold Opening and Closing Ceremonies, track and field competition, and soccer finals should San Francisco win an international competition to host the Games a decade from now, the group San Francisco 2016 announced Friday.
49ers, Snyder Agree To Contract Extension

The deal, which was not announced by the team, is worth $10.5 million, with a $4 million signing bonus.

The third-year pro signed an extension keeping him with the club through 2012, according to a person within the league familiar with the signing who spoke on condition of anonymity because Spencer wanted to keep the deal quiet.

49ers' Allen Out For 2-4 Weeks, LT Jennings Doubtful
San Francisco left guard Larry Allen is expected to miss at least two games with an injured knee ligament, while left tackle Jonas Jennings could play for the 49ers on Sunday despite his sprained ankle.
The news could have been worse Monday for the two veteran free-agent signees on the left side of the 49ers' line. Both were injured during San Francisco's season-opening loss at Arizona, but neither is thought to be lost for the season.
Gore Has 160 Total Yards
In Week 1 at Arizona, Frank Gore ran for 87 yards and two touchdowns, but more importantly, he gave Alex Smith a short-throw option by accumulating 83 receiving yards.
He has a history of injury problems, but with the way he is built, he looks like he will have no problem staying healthy throughout the season. He had 22 touches on Sunday and that number will creep up as the season moves on.
