Raiders Receiving 'Red-Hot' Interset In 3rd Overall Pick

Sep 13, 2014 6:09 PM

The Oakland Raiders are receiving a lot of interest from teams interested in trading up to acquire the third overall pick.

The Raiders presumably would prefer to trade down to acquire additional assets as they do not own a second round pick.

"It's red-hot," said one source about the interest the Raiders are receiving.

Raiders To Draft BPA At No. 3, Fill Needs In Later Rounds

Oct 31, 2014 9:45 AM

Reggie McKenzie plans to use the third overall pick on the best player available and use later round picks to fill needs.

The Oakland Raiders don't their second scheduled pick until No. 66 overall.

"I think you try and draft the best player, and fill that need down the line," McKenzie said.

The Raiders are seeking difference-makers above all else.

"I want to try and get someone here who can change the game," McKenzie said. "If it's a solid, versatile player vs. a difference maker? You take the difference maker."

McFadden Optimistic About New Raiders' Offense

Oct 6, 2014 9:53 PM

The Oakland Raiders won't run a zone-blocking offensive scheme this season under new coordinator Greg Olson.

Darren McFadden rushed for a career low 3.3 yards per carry last season.

"I came in last year with my hopes super high," McFadden said Thursday. "They were just crushed. So I wanted to put that behind me and move forward."

Olson replaced the fired Greg Knapp

"It's a downhill offense," McFadden said. "That's one of the things I like about it. I'm the type of guy I like to get going downhill, so I'm looking forward to it. I think it's going to be a great fit for our team.

He also reports that the Browns "badly" want to trade out of the sixth spot.

McFadden Excited For Oakland's New Offense

Oct 31, 2014 5:55 PM

Darren McFadden, who has missed 23 games through his first five seasons, is eager for the 2013 season because of the new offense the Oakland Raiders will feature.

The team is going back to a straight-ahead power running scheme with new offensive coordinator Greg Olson and offensive line coach Tony Sparano.

McFadden's "most effective years have been in a downhill, power scheme," head coach Dennis Allen said. "That's why Greg Olson and Tony Sparano are here."

"This is very exciting for me," McFadden said. "I am the type of guy who likes to go downhill, make a cut and go; that's my thing. We'll mix it up like we used to, and get some zones in there, but for the most part, I will be keeping my shoulders toward the line of scrimmage."
