Jon Gruden wore an "Oakland Raiders" hat on the sideline Thursday night before switching to a Las Vegas one later in the overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Gruden acknowledged it after the game and suggested he was the victim of a prank by whoever sets out his apparel for him before games.

"I apologize for not having the right hat on. Somebody played a pretty good trick on me," Gruden said.

Las Vegas Raiders rookie Henry Ruggs III was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday and will be out for Thursday night's home game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

The first receiver taken in this year's NFL Draft, Ruggs has 23 catches on 38 targets for 414 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games.

The Raiders have lost three of their last four to fall out of the AFC playoff race with three games to go.

The Las Vegas Raiders fired defensive coordinator Paul Guenther following Sunday's 44-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

The loss dropped the Raiders to 7-6 and all but ended their playoff hopes. They've lost three of their last four games.

Las Vegas named first-year defensive line coach Rod Marinelli as the interim defensive coordinator to finish the season.
