Raiders To Hire Mike Mayock As GM

Dec 31, 2018 8:56 AM

The Oakland Raiders have agreed to hire Mike Mayock as general manager. Mayock is a longtime NFL Network draft analyst.

Jon Gruden called Mayock a "passionate personnel man."

"He loves it," Gruden said. "He has done it for a long time. I know he has had opportunities to get back into the NFL as a general manager. We will see what happens. We will see how the dust settles."

Mayock will replace Reggie McKenzie, whom the Raiders fired on Dec. 10.

Jerry Reese Declines Request To Interview For Raiders' GM Job

Dec 23, 2018 11:05 AM

Jerry Reese turned down a request from the Oakland Raiders to interview for their general manager vacancy.

Reese was fired by the New York Giants one year ago.

The concern of potential GM candidates around the league is that the job will not carry the type of autonomy that many GM jobs do because of the presence of Jon Gruden.

The Raiders are seeking to replace GM Reggie McKenzie, who was fired earlier this month.

SF Giants Offer AT&T Park Usage To Raiders For 2019

Dec 21, 2018 6:44 PM

The San Francisco Giants have had discussions with the Oakland Raiders about playing the 2019 season at AT&T Park.

“There has been initial interest expressed in exploring the opportunity of the Raiders playing at AT&T Park,” the Giants said in a statement, via Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group. “Many details would need to be figured out. The Giants want to do what’s best for Bay Area fans and would be open to the concept just as we hosted Cal Football in 2011 when Memorial Stadium in Berkeley was being renovated.”

One question is whether the 49ers would allow the Raiders to play in their territorial market for a season.

The Raiders pulled their $7.5 million offer to Oakland for use of the Oakland Coliseum for next season after the city sued the NFL and all 32 franchises.

The NFL has said they need an answer by early January or February on where the Raiders will play in 2019.

Amari Cooper: Mark Davis Made Decision To Trade Me

Dec 14, 2018 11:06 AM

Amari Cooper said it was Mark Davis that decided to trade him from the Oakland Raiders to the Dallas Cowboys, and not Jon Gruden or Reggie McKenzie.

“They were getting calls about a first for [2020], and they weren’t going to do it,” Cooper said, via Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “But when Jerry Jones called about a first for [2019], he felt he had no choice.”

In his six games in Dallas, Cooper has more receiving yards (642), first downs (23), first downs on third down (11) and receptions on third down (13) than any other receiver in the NFL has the past six games.

Mark Davis: Amari Cooper Was Great Player, Didn't Work In Our System

Dec 13, 2018 9:14 AM

Mark Davis said the decision by the Oakland Raiders to trade Amari Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys was about the fit within the system and not talent.

“He was a great, great player. We always had the fastest guy on the field no matter what,” Davis said. “It just didn’t work out in our system.”

Cooper has played extraordinarily well since his trade to the Cowboys.

Derek Carr Calls Raiders' 2019 Location Uncertainty 'Weird'

Dec 12, 2018 10:45 PM

Derek Carr talked about the uncertainty facing the 2019 location of the Oakland Raiders.

The Raiders have been sued by the City of Oakland, which could lead them to play elsewhere in 2019 before moving to Las Vegas in 2020.

Mark Davis said "everything is an option."

"It's crazy, man," Carr said Wednesday. "My brother (David) warned me about stuff like this because he played for 12 years. I was like, 'No, man, when you get here it's just rainbows and butterflies because you made it to the NFL.' All of a sudden, you get new friends every year. ... I've had like 27 different people in the locker next to me in five years. It just shows you how tough this business is."

The city still has $80 million in debt remaining from renovations to the Coliseum.

"That is crazy, and to me that seems weird," Carr said. "It just seems different to even have to think that way, because I've spent five years playing in this stadium."
