Palmer To Miss Week 17, Leinart Expected To Start

Dec 24, 2012 9:38 PM

Carson Palmer will miss Week 17 due to cracked ribs and a bruised lung.

Palmer left Sunday’s 17-6 loss at Carolina in the first quarter after he was hit hard by defensive end Greg Hardy.

A CT scan revealed the injuries, but he was deemed OK to make the long flight home.

Matt Leinart is expected to start at quarterback over Terrelle Pryor.

Raiders Display Allen's Vision For Future

Dec 18, 2012 10:54 AM

The Oakland Raiders' 15-0 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was the first time Dennis Allen's vision for the team was successfully on display. Allen wants the Raiders to be built around a strong running game and defense.

"It's just like I've been saying since Day 1 - we've got to be more consistent at it," Allen said Monday at his weekly news conference. "We've proven we can do it at times, but we've got to be more consistent at it. That will be our challenge moving forward."

Raiders Concentrating On Player Evaluation Over Final Three Weeks

Dec 15, 2012 11:01 AM

Reggie McKenzie and Dennis Allen are evaluating every player on the Oakland Raiders' 53-man roster over the final three games of the season.

"I don't see any real major change-ups as far as the starting lineup is concerned, but we do want to see some of these guys get in some game action," Allen said. "How much that is, I don't know exactly right now. A lot of that, the game will dictate."

McKenzie particularly wants to see Terrelle Pryor play regular season snaps at quarterback.

"That's the only way I can evaluate him is to play him," McKenzie said Nov. 30. "Now, when he plays, how much he plays, that will be a charge to the coaching staff. … This is a good time to try to figure out what works best for him."

Streater Established As Legitimate NFL WR After Going Undrafted

Dec 8, 2012 12:16 PM

Rod Streater has 28 catches for 429 yards and three touchdowns, looking like a keeper at wide receiver for the Oakland Raiders.

Streater went undrafted last April, but the Raiders signed him soon after the draft.

“It’s a crazy feeling,” Streater said Friday. “I thought football was over for me. I was just looking at getting a job. Then you come here and the game’s on your hands. It’s a lot of pressure and then it’s not. It’s what you prepare for. It’s what you want to do as a kid growing up. You want to be Thursday night football making that game-winning touchdown. It’s a good feeling.”

Streater caught only 19 passes in his final season at Temple.
