McFadden, Raiders Defeat Steelers 34-31 (+9.0 TC, -11 TRC)

Sep 21, 2014 6:34 AM

The Oakland Raiders scored 13 fourth quarter points to record a 34-31 come-from-behind victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Both teams are now 1-2 for the season.

The Raiders had a +9.0 advantage in The Trench Counter, as they had 56 fewer penalty yards, one fewer turnover and a far more effective running game. The Steelers had a +11 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Carson Palmer went 24-for-34 for 209 yards with three touchdowns and one interception, but Darren McFadden's 18 yards for 113 yards and a 64-yard touchdown helped establish Oakland's offense.

Ben Roethlisberger went 36-for-49 for 484 yards and four touchdowns, spreading the ball amongst 10 targets. Mike Wallace caught eight balls for 123 yards and a touchdown.

But Pittsburgh's running game struggled against a Raiders' defense that itself struggled in that area against the Chargers and Dolphins. Isaac Redman had nine carries for 27 yards.
