Patriots Trade For LeGarrette Blount

Nov 29, 2014 2:42 AM

The New England Patriots have acquired LeGarrette Blount from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for Jeff Demps and a seventh round pick.

Blount had been phased out of the Buccaneers' offense due to the presence of Doug Martin.

Blount is a bigger back than what the Patriots currently have on their depth chart.

Patriots Talking Ryan Mallett Trade With Multiple Teams

Jun 7, 2014 11:26 AM

The New England Patriots have received calls from multiple teams inquiring about the availability of Ryan Mallett.

Mallett was a third round pick by the Patriots in 2011 and continues to backup Tom Brady at quarterback.

The Patriots would like more than a third round pick for Mallett as they have invested the past two seasons in developing him.

The Cleveland Browns have long been favorites to acquire Mallett.

Three sources said the odds are stronger that the Patriots trade Mallett.

Patriots Have Had Poor Draft Record At WR Since 2002

Jul 7, 2014 8:14 AM

The New England Patriots have drafted eight receivers following their selections of Deion Branch and David Givens in 2002, with the group combining for just 140 catches, 1,835 yards and 14 touchdowns. Julian Edelman has been the most productive, catching 69 balls for 714 yards and four touchdowns.

“Even [Bill] Belichick would admit they’ve been terrible,” said an NFC general manager. “I mean, those guys haven’t done anything after they’ve left, either. They’re just bad.”

Bill Belichick has looked more toward free agents due to how difficult it has become to project wide receivers coming out of college.

Patriots Looking To Trade Jeff Demps?

Oct 31, 2014 2:15 PM

The New England Patriots may have placed former track star Jeff Demps on the trading block.

Last month, Demps announced his intention to prioritize his track career over football.

His commitment to track means he wouldn't be eligible to contribute to the Patriots until midway through the 2013 season, by his own estimation.

Aaron Hernandez Aiming To Play Full Season

Oct 31, 2014 5:57 AM

New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has never played all 16 games in a season, but he's aiming his workouts towards that this offseason.

"Just been training, trying to get my body right, get my strength up so I can have a decent season next year," Hernandez said.

"I'd say more attention to specific muscles instead of just doing the basic bench, squat and all that other stuff. I'd say I started a little earlier this year to maybe try to get through 16 games this season. It's away from everything else — away from my family, my friends, gives me time to focus on football, focus on my main priorities in life."
