Vince Wilfork Out For Season With Torn Achilles

Vince Wilfork will miss the rest of the 2013 season with a torn Achilles tendon.

Wilfork was injured in the first quarter of the New England Patriots' Week 4 win over the Atlanta Falcons when he appeared to step on the foot of another player.

Wilfork left the field on a cart and left the stadium with a protective boot on.

Brady Endorses Hoyer As NFL Starter

Tom Brady has endorsed the ability of Brian Hoyer, his former backup who is now starting for the Cleveland Browns.

"He has everything it takes physically and mentally to play the position," said Brady told Cleveland.com in and email exchange. "He loves football and works hard at getting better."

Brady texted a note of congratulations to Hoyer after winning his first start.

"We talked football whenever we were around one another, but he was solely responsible for his work ethic and improvements over the years," Brady said.

Gronkowski, Amendola Won't Play Week 4

Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola did not travel with the New England Patriots to Atlanta on Saturday and will not play in Week 4 against the Falcons.

Both Gronkowski and Amendola appeared likely to play earlier in the week.

A Boston Herald report indicates that Gronkowksi's camp and the Patriots have a disagreement on whether he is ready to play.

Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola are expected to play in Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Gronkowski is coming off multiple surgeries and Amendola has had issues with a groin injury.

As of right now both Gronkowski and Amendola are scheduled to play, but there is "a lot of time between now and Sunday night."

The New England Patriots defeated the New York Jets on Thursday in ugly fashion by a final score of 13-10.

The Patriots had a +5.8 advantage in the Trench Counter, recording just nine first downs and averaging 3.6 yards per play in a game in which Tom Brady was visibly frustrated. New England recorded just nine first downs, but won the turnover battle 4-0. The Jets had a +4 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Brady went 19-for-39 for 185 yards and one touchdown.

Geno Smith went 15-for-35 for 214 yards and three interceptions.

Lloyd reportedly is "neither physically nor mentally ready" to play football this season.
