NFL Won't Allow Any Team To Sign Hernandez Until Case Resolved

Aaron Hernandez cleared waivers on Thursday and the NFL issued a statement about his future in the NFL.

“NFL clubs were advised today that if Aaron Hernandez enters into a player contract prior to the resolution of the charges pending against him, the contract will not be approved or take effect until Commissioner Roger Goodell holds a hearing. The purpose of the hearing would be to determine whether Hernandez should be suspended or face other action prior to the charges being resolved.”

Hernandez Being Investigated For Double Homicide In July 2012

Aaron Hernandez is being investigated as a possible suspect in a double murder that took place in downtown Boston in July of 2012.

FOX 25 says that “officers responded to the intersection of Shawmut Avenue and Herald Street just after 2 a.m. When they arrived, they found three people had been shot, two fatally, as they sat in a car at a traffic light.”

The men, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, were reportedly seated in the front seat of the vehicle when a witness says that a “gray or silver SUV with Rhode Island plates opened fire on it. The surviving victim was in the back seat” and two in the SUV fled the scene.

According to a FOX 25 source, the men worked at a cleaning company in Dorchester and had just left a bar in the area.

Hernandez was arrested and charged with homicide on Wednesday for the death of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez was released by the New England Patriots following his arrest.

The New England Patriots have waived their right to recoup bonus money or salary through the collective bargaining agreement that they previously gave Aaron Hernandez.

The Patriots waived Hernandez on Wednesday following his arrest for the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million extension last August that included a $12.5 million signing bonus.

Aaron Hernandez Arrested On Murder Charge, Released By Patriots

Aaron Hernandez has been arrested and charged in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

The New England Patriots subsequently released Hernandez.

The Patriots extended their sympathies to Lloyd's family in the statement announcing Hernandez's release from the team.

"A young man was murdered last week and we extend our sympathies to the family and friends who mourn his loss," the Patriots' statement said. "Words cannot express the disappointment we feel knowing that one of our players was arrested as a result of this investigation. We realize that law enforcement investigations into this matter are ongoing. We support their efforts and respect the process. At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do."

Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million extension with the Patriots last August.

Aaron Hernandez Could Keep $2.5M Due To Contract Loophole

Aaron Hernandez reportedly does not have a "failure to perform" or "failure to practice" clause in his contract, which could allow him to keep nearly $2.5 million of his deal should he be suspended or in jail due to the ongoing homicide investigation.

According to his amended contract, Hernandez is guaranteed a total of $16 million. Of that, $9.25 million in a signing bonus already has been paid, with the final $3.25 million due in March 2014.

Hernandez signed a five-year, $40 million extension with the Patriots in 2012.

Obstruction Of Justice Arrest Warrant Forthcoming For Aaron Hernandez

An arrest warrant for obstruction of justice will be issues against Aaron Hernandez.

Police discovered that the security system at Hernadez's home and his cellphone were destroyed.

Police were at Hernandez's home again on Thursday.

Hernandez's cellphone was handed over to investigators "in pieces" by his attorneys, sources added. 

Hernandez's mansion was also cleaned on Monday.

Surveillance video from the North Attleborough, Mass., neighborhood of Hernandez shows him with Odin Lloyd and two other people hours before Lloyd was killed earlier this week.

Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez's girlfriend.

Lloyd's body was found one mile from the home of Hernandez on Monday.

It is not yet known what Hernandez will be charged with.

Hernandez has a history of incidents involving guns.

Aaron Hernandez has not been ruled as a suspect in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Lloyd was found shot in the back of the head on Monday.

Police say Lloyd was dating the sister of the mother of Hernandez's daughter. 

Lloyd's body was discovered in a clearing near John Dietsch Boulevard, not far from a vehicle that had been rented by Hernandez. Police have ruled Lloyd's death a homicide.
