Star wide receiver Cooper Kupp suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter of the Los Angeles Rams' game against the Seattle Seahawks and did not return.

The injury came in the second quarter of the Rams' 17-16 victory Sunday. Kupp was checked out on the sideline by the Rams' medical staff before going to the locker room before halftime. He was on the sideline in the third quarter with his helmet on, but he did not return to the field and was officially ruled out at the start of the fourth quarter.

The Los Angeles Rams have signed Carson Wentz to serve as backup to Matthew Stafford.

Wentz spent the 2022 season with the Washington Commanders, but was released in February with two years remaining on his contract.

Wentz was drafted No. 2 overall in the 2016 draft by the Philadelphia Eagles after the Rams instead took Jared Goff.

The Los Angeles Rams will start Brett Rypien at quarterback Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Rypien will start in place of Matthew Stafford, who is inactive.

Stafford had been considered unlikely to play as he deals with a thumb injury.

Stafford suffered a ulnar collateral ligament sprain in his right thumb in last week's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. He's officially listed as questionable.
