Mark Davis: Raiders Have Already Won Fight For Los Angeles

Aug 21, 2017 5:16 PM

While the Rams and Chargers moved to Los Angeles, and the Raiders will move to Las Vegas, owner Mark Davis believes his franchise has already won the battle for the area.

“You know, it’s kind of funny,” Davis said. “They’re talking about the fight for Los Angeles. And Raiders fans have been telling me we already won that fight, And that the Rams and Chargers are fighting for the No. 2 and 3 spots.”

The Raiders remain hugely popular in Los Angeles despite staying in Oakland until their stadium in Las Vegas is ready.

“A good portion have come from Los Angeles and Southern California,” Davis said, “Without stepping on any toes, we’re going to market ourselves in Los Angeles area. And San Diego. We’re reaching out to Raider Nation in Southern California. It’s strong there.”

Sammy Watkins Quickly Impressing Teammates With Rams

Aug 17, 2017 9:29 AM

Sammy Watkins is already making his presence felt in practice with the Los Angeles Rams.

Watkins was acquired to be the team's No. 1 receiver and has already made head-turning catches on the practice field.

"I did a little bit," Jared Goff said when asked if he noticed Watkins' first highlight catch. "You try not to, but I did kind of turn around, like, 'Everyone see that? All right.' It was a good catch and hopefully something that won't be quite a surprise any more."

Watkins is a former first-round pick.

"When the ball is in his hands you can feel his speed and his juice down the field," coach Sean McVay said. "I thought it was good to get him out here. We were comfortable with the things we were asking him to do, so it was great to have Sammy out there and get him in the mix."

The Los Angeles Rams have acquired Sammy Watkins from the Buffalo Bills for E.J. Gaines and a 2018 second round pick. The Rams will also acquire a sixth round pick from the Bills.

The Bills' decision to trade their top receiver and top cornerback for future draft picks signals that first-year general manager Brandon Beane and coach Sean McDermott view the Bills as a long-term rebuilding project.

Buffalo now owns two selections in the first, second and third rounds of the 2018 draft.

Rams Lose Dominique Easley For 2017 With Torn ACL

Aug 2, 2017 1:36 PM

Dominique Easley will miss the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL.

Easley suffered torn ligaments in both knees while playing in college at Florida. He also suffered a knee injury during his rookie season with the New England Patriots, who selected him in the first round of the 2014 draft.

The Los Angeles Rams are already dealing with the absence of Early due to a contract dispute. The loss of Easley will make their defensive line even thinner.

Easley was listed as a projected starter in the team’s training camp media release.
