Rams Want Todd Gurley To Improve Pass Blocking

Feb 15, 2017 6:35 AM

Todd Gurley struggled in 2016, watching his yards per carry drop from 4.8 as a rookie to 3.2 as a second-year player, but the Los Angeles Rams want him to improve elsewhere.

"It has nothing to do with the running game," running back coach Skip Peete said. "I think the most important thing in this league, as far as a running back is concerned, is his ability to pass protect, whether it's first or second down. Because they think it's easy. They've all come into the league comfortable as a runner. But that aspect of it is a little bit different than you're accustomed to coming out of college. He and I talk about that all the time -- your ability to completely understand the blocking scheme, whether it's run or pass."

The Rams believe Gurley's pass-protection is vital to the success of Jared Goff.

Rams To Hire Matt LaFleur As Offensive Coordinator

Feb 7, 2017 12:55 PM

Matt LaFleur is expected to leave the Atlanta Falcons to become offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams.

LaFleur had been quarterbacks coach but Steve Sarkisian will replace Kyle Shanahan as the Falcons' offensive coordinator.

LaFleur previously worked with Sean McVay with Washington.

McVay views LaFleur as capable of helping him implement his offense and teaching former No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff how to excel in the NFL game.

Marshall Faulk Maintains The Patriots Filmed The Rams' Practice

Feb 3, 2017 8:25 AM

Marshall Faulk still believes that the New England Patriots filmed the St. Louis Rams' final practice before the Super Bowl in 2002 despite no evidence that anything illegal ever took place.

The rumor emerged around the time the Spygate story broke in 2007.

"[The practice] before the Super Bowl," Faulk said. "The guy who worked for the Patriots. If you remember, that was someone mysteriously living in Hawaii, who made his way back to the states and delivered the tapes. [Roger] Goodell then watched those tapes and said there wasn't enough there to deem anything being done. Now, I didn't see what was on the tapes, because we didn't get to see that. The only thing I could say is that they taped our practice. That was wrong."

Faulk was asked if he "believed" the Rams' practice was taped.

"I don't believe anything. I'm just telling you the facts," Faulk said.
