Trumaine Johnson Won't Sign Long-Term Deal With Rams By Deadline

Jun 27, 2017 12:00 PM

Trumaine Johnson will not reach agreement with the Los Angeles Rams on a long-term contract by the July 17 deadline.

Johnson will play under the franchise tender for the second straight season.

Johnson signed his franchise tender with the Rams on March 6, guaranteeing himself a 2017 salary of $16.742 million that will make him the NFL's highest-paid cornerback.

Johnson, a third-round pick out of Montana in 2012, is the first cornerback to be tagged in back-to-back years since Charles Woodson in 2004 and '05. Johnson made $13.952 million when he was tagged in 2016.

Rams Trade Former No. 2 Pick Greg Robinson To Lions

Jun 15, 2017 10:15 AM

The Los Angeles Rams have traded Greg Robinson to the Detroit Lions for a 2018 second round pick.

Robinson was the second overall pick in the 2014 draft but was demoted. Robinson played in 44 career games with the Rams, starting 40 of them. Los Angeles had tried moving him to guard and right tackle before eventually deciding to trade him to Detroit with one year left on his rookie contract.

"Since we drafted Greg, he has been committed to our organization, his teammates and community outreach," Rams general manager Les Snead said in a statement. "We appreciate his dedication and the effort he's put forth over the past three seasons. We wish him the best as he embarks on this new chapter."

The Lions have a need at offensive tackle with Taylor Decker out several months.
