Leonard Fournette Challenges Void Of Guaranteed Money

Jan 18, 2019 11:09 AM

Leonard Fournette has filed a challenge with the NFL regarding the Jacksonville Jaguars' decision to void the guaranteed money in the final two years of his contract, according to a source.

An arbitrator will rule on whether the Jaguars are able to withhold the $7.1 million in guaranteed money ($2.93 million in 2019 and $4.17 million in 2020) as punishment for Fournette's NFL suspension.

The NFL suspended Fournette for one game without pay after he left the bench, ran across the field and fought the Buffalo Bills' Shaq Lawson on Nov. 25.

The Jaguars informed Fournette shortly after the suspension that they were voiding the remaining guaranteed money in his rookie contract because of a clause that allows them to do so if a player isn't able to play for reasons other than a football injury.

Jaguars Could Be Contenders For Nick Foles

Jan 17, 2019 8:33 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars could become leading contenders to land Nick Foles this offseason.

John DeFilippo has been named Jacksonville's offensive coordinator. DeFilippo was the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles when Foles led the team to a Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots last February.

It remains to be seen how a team could acquire Foles this offseason -- whether he'll become a free agent or the Eagles will retain his rights to swing a trade.

Jan 11, 2019 9:39 AM

Leonard Fournette met with Jacksonville Jaguars management on Wednesday to discuss his disappointing season and plans for the future, according to a source.

There have been questions about Fournette's maturity, commitment to football, conditioning, on-field behavior and production after the 2018 season. There is speculation that the Jaguars may be willing to trade -- or cut -- him in the offseason.

The fourth overall pick in 2017, Fournette has missed 11 games in two seasons. He totaled just 133 carries for 439 yards and five scores this past season.

Jaguars Fire RB Coach Following Drama At Position

Jan 2, 2019 8:50 AM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have fired running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley and three more assistants.

Jacksonville also let offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, secondary coach Perry Fewell and defensive line coach Marion Hobby go after the season.

Wheatley was fired after Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon were criticized for being disengaged from coaches and teammates during a 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans.

Tom Coughlin ripped both players for being "disrespectful" and "selfish." He said "their behavior was unbecoming of a professional football player."
