Jaguars Have 'Full Confidence' In Leonard Fournette

Mar 19, 2019 8:33 AM

Leonard Fournette had a forgettable 2018 season, but Tom Coughlin insists the Jacksonville Jaguars still have "full confidence" in the running back.

Fournette missed seven games with injuries and was suspended for another game by the Jaguars.

"With Leonard, a prepared Leonard coming into camp with a mindset that he discussed and we talked about … I have full confidence in him,” Coughlin said. "He does have some things he’s got to prove when he comes back about his preparation, but he’s a young, young player, he loves football, had an outstanding year, had a very disappointing year, and I think he wants to — we want him to be a great player and I think he’s in the same mindset."

Jaguars To Sign Nick Foles, Release Blake Bortles

Mar 4, 2019 12:03 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to sign Nick Foles to a multi-year contract when the new league year opens.

The Jaguars are expected to release Blake Bortles and install Foles as their starter. Jacksonville will have to pay $6.5 million of Bortles' 2019 salary.

Howie Roseman said Wednesday that the team would not place the franchise tag on Foles, leaving him a free agent.

"He deserves an opportunity to lead a team," Roseman said.

Foles opted out of his contract with the Eagles by paying them back $2 million in February.

"I would love to lead a team," Foles said at the close of the 2018 season. "The starter thing, leading a team, impacting a locker room ... that's why we play the game -- to impact people, to create an atmosphere."
