Packers Publicly Noncommittal On Starting QB For 2023

Feb 28, 2023 3:56 PM

Brian Gutekunst will be publicly noncommittal about who will play quarterback for the Green Bay Packers next season until he has the opportunity to meet with Aaron Rodgers.

Gutekunst and Rodgers have only exchanged a few text messages since the end of the season.

"He's a great player, but until we have those conversations, I think all options are on the table right now," Gutekunst said during a 35-minute sit-down with reporters who cover the Packers. "But we really need to have those conversations. We want what's best for the Green Bay Packers, what's best for Aaron. So, we'll get to that once those conversations happen."

His stance Tuesday was slightly changed from Dec. 6, when during the Packers' bye week, he said he wanted Rodgers back for next season. Then, on Jan. 13, when discussing Rodgers' situation after the season, Gutekunst implied that he still believed Rodgers gave the Packers a better chance to win than if Jordan Love were to take over.

Allen Lazard Will Be 'Bougie' In Picking Next Team

Feb 23, 2023 10:04 AM

Allen Lazard will be a free agent next month after spending his first five seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

An undrafted free agent coming off the most productive season of his career, Lazard told SiriusXM that he's "excited" to see what awaits him in free agency but noted he'd be "bougie" in choosing his next team.

"I've been very spoiled the past four or five years to be in the Packers organization," Lazard said.

"I think they're obviously a first-class organization just how they go about their relationship with the fans, how they treat the players. Just the whole experience there. Having coach (Matt) LaFleur and Nathaniel Hackett there the past few years and obviously having Aaron (Rodgers) as the quarterback, I'm almost sort of bougie, I feel like, in what I'm going to be wanting out of an organization. I have such high expectations. But that's only because I've seen that and I've experienced that, and I think the record -- minus last year, the three years before that -- it kind of shows you why they're able to have that success."

Lazard had 60 catches for 788 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games this past season.

Aaron Rodgers Leaves Oregon Facility, Ends Darkness Retreat

Feb 23, 2023 9:54 AM

Aaron Rodgers has ended his darkness retreat, according to the owner of the facility in southern Oregon where the Green Bay Packers quarterback spent the past several days and nights.

Before entering the retreat, Rodgers said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that he had scheduled four days and four nights in darkness isolation and was hoping to "have a better sense of where I'm at in my life."

He said he was not going to the retreat just to figure out whether he will play in 2023 or retire.

Rodgers, 39, is under contract with the Packers for $59.465 million guaranteed if he plays in 2023.

Aaron Rodgers: Ian Rapoport, Adam Schefter 'Don't Know S--- About Me'

Feb 15, 2023 9:45 AM

Aaron Rodgers called out two notable NFL reporters during his weekly spot on The Pat McAfee Show.

Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Rodgers planned to start his voluntary solitary confinement on Monday.

"There's an inner circle and in my inner circle, nobody talks to Ian Rapoport [or] Adam Schefter or to any of those people," Rodgers said on Tuesday. "Just stop with the fake news. I speak for myself and I will continue to do that.

"I have no problem with Ian Rapoport, [Adam] Schefter, I think they're really good at their jobs. When it comes to me, they don't know shit. They really don't. They don't have people in my inner circle who are sources. I can promise you that. Anybody who would talk to them is not in my inner circle. It’s that simple. So I've had this plan on the books for four months, for the same time. When someone like that goes on and says something that’s not true it creates a story that's [expletive]."

Aaron Rodgers Hopes For Clarity After Four-Day Darkness Retreat

Feb 7, 2023 2:39 PM

Aaron Rodgers is undecided on whether he will continue playing in 2023 and if it will be with the Green Bay Packers.

Rodgers has been linked to the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders among others.

Rodgers said he has “an opportunity to do a little self-reflection in some isolation and after that, I feel like I’ll be a lot closer to that final, final decision.”

Rodgers will go to a "darkness retreat" for four nights alone. Rodgers will be in pitch black all day and night for four days in what he described as "sensory deprivation isolation."

“That’s why I think it’s going to be important to get through this week and take my isolation retreat and contemplate all things my future.”

Davante Adams: Playing With Rodgers Again Would Be 'Dream Scenario'

Feb 6, 2023 8:53 AM

Davante Adams says he'd love to be reunited with Aaron Rodgers on the Las Vegas Raiders.

"A million percent," Adams said. "A hundred percent, that's exactly what I'm trying to portray."

The wide receiver spent the first eight seasons of his career catching passes from Rodgers with the Green Bay Packers. He was dealt to the Raiders last offseason.

"Would I be interested in having Aaron Rodgers throw to me?" Adams said. "Yes. I would love that. … I would love to have that, and obviously, that would be a dream scenario. One that I'm very familiar with."

Adams declined to say whether or not he'd spoken with Rodgers about potentially reuniting. But he does plan on talking to Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and Josh McDaniels about his desire to have Rodgers as his QB again.

"There's a lot of conversations to be had, still, in the near future," Adams said. "We'll see what happens, but that's obviously something I'd go in and talk about."

Aaron Rodgers Says He's 'Not Going To San Fran'

Feb 3, 2023 8:47 AM

While at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Aaron Rodgers declared, "I'm not going to San Fran."

The comments came a day after the San Francisco 49ers said they don't plan to pursue a high-profile quarterback this offseason.

The 49ers attempted to trade for Rodgers two years ago, which led to issues between the quarterback and the Green Bay Packers.
