Manning Leads Broncos To 37-6 Win Over Raiders (+14.0 TC, +33 TRC)

The Denver Broncos beat the Oakland Raiders at home for the first time since 2008, taking a deciding 37-6 victory.

The Broncos had a +14.0 advantage in The Trench Counter, completely dominating all aspects of the game. The Broncos had a +33 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Peyton Manning was impressive, going 30-for-38 for 338 yards and three touchdowns. Manning was offset by an effective ground game with Willis McGahee rushing 19 times for 112 yards and a touchdown.

The Raiders went 1-for-12 on third down, as they were unable to sustain their drives beyond two Sebastian Janikowski field goals, the latter one moving the score to 10-6 at halftime.

Caron Palmer went 19-for-34 for 202 yards, while Darren McFadden was limited to just 2.6 yards per carry on 13 attempts.

The Houston Texans defeated the Denver Broncos by a final score of 31-25 to remain undefeated.

The Texans had a +7.8 advantage in The Trench Counter, as they averaged 6.7 yards per play against 4.9 for the Broncos. Houston had a +4 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Matt Schaub was excellent for the Texans, going 17-for-30 for 290 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Andre Johnson, Kevin Walter, Owen Daniels and Arian Foster each caught a touchdown pass.

Foster rushed 25 times for 105 yards, while Ben Tate added 26 yards on eight carries.

Peyton Manning went 26-for-52 for 330 yards with two touchdowns.

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Denver Broncos by the final score of 27-21 in a game that was more about Peyton Manning's three first quarter interceptions and frustrating referees than it was the passing game of Matt Ryan, Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez.

The Falcons finished with a +7.2 advantage in The Trench Counter, averaging fewer yards per play but winning the turnover battle +4. Atlanta had just a +1 edge in Total Rushes/Completions.

Ryan went 24-for-36 for 219 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with White and Gonzalez for a touchdown apiece and 15 completions overall. Ryan threw his 100th career touchdown pass in ghte game.

Manning recovered from his three early interceptions to finish 24-for-37 for 241 yards.

How Football Outsiders' Projections Changed After Week 1

The Denver Broncos had the best DVOA in Week 1 as they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by the Baltimore Ravens over the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots over the Tennessee Titans.

Football Outsiders also has a stat calle DAVE, which stands for DVOA Adjusted for Variation Early. After Week 1, DAVE accounts for 90 percent and the current VOA counts for 10 percent.

The Patriots rank first in DAVE at 41.0%, followed by the Falcons, Packers, Bears and Ravens.

Manning's Return Draws Highest Ever NBC Rating For Regular Season

Peyton Manning's return from injury and debut with the Denver Broncos against the Pittsburgh Steelers drew an overnight rating of 18.0, the highest rating for any prime time regular season game ever on NBC.

The previous best was a 17.7 rating in 2010 for a rematch between the Saints and the Vikings of the previous season's NFC Championship.

Ratings were up eight percent from last season's game between the Cowboys and Jets.
