Ravens OC Not Worried If Lamar Jackson Holds Out

Feb 22, 2023 9:43 AM

New Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken praised Lamar Jackson for his "elite skill set" but also said he won't be worried if the quarterback holds out this offseason.

There's a possibility that Jackson will skip all of the offseason spring workouts and training camp if he receives the franchise tag from the Ravens.

"Sure, he'll be behind, but it's still just football," Monken said of the possibility. "Sometimes we make this out to be way too much. We'll cater to what he knows and play."

Ravens Tell OC Candidates Lamar Jackson Not Assured Of Remaining

Feb 15, 2023 12:10 PM

When the Baltimore Ravens interviewed offensive coordinators, they communicated their position that there are no assurances Lamar Jackson will remain with the franchise in 2023.

Jackson is expected to receive the franchise tag, but the Ravens could entertain trade offers if they continue to not find progress on a long-term contract.

The Ravens would like Jackson to return.

The Ravens parted ways with longtime offensive coordinator Greg Roman following the 2022 campaign. Todd Monken has since been hired as his replacement.

The Baltimore Ravens have hired Todd Monken as offensive coordinator.

Monken, 57, helped guide Georgia to back-to-back national championships. His offense averaged 501.1 yards and 40.7 points per game last season.

When Monken was an NFL offensive coordinator with Tampa Bay and then Cleveland, the Buccaneers had the NFL's best passing attack in 2018, and Baker Mayfield threw for a career-best 3,827 yards for the Browns in 2019.
