Lamar Jackson Says Left Ankle Is '100 Percent'

Nov 22, 2023 9:18 AM

Lamar Jackson is brushing off any concern over his injured left ankle.

"I believe I'm good," the Baltimore Ravens quarterback said.

He then waved his left hand side to side before flashing a smile, saying, "I believe I'm 100%."

Jackson went down in pain toward the end of the first quarter of Thursday's 34-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, grabbing his left ankle after getting tackled along the sideline by linebacker Logan Wilson. He never missed a snap, but he had a pronounced limp at times during the game.

Asked whether Jackson's ankle was fine, John Harbaugh said, "It does [seem like everything is OK]."

'Outside Chance' Mark Andrews Returns This Season

Nov 21, 2023 9:11 AM

Mark Andrews may not be done for the season, after all.

John Harbaugh provided an update on Monday, saying there's "an outside chance" the tight end could return at some point this year.

The Baltimore Ravens thought Andrews suffered a season-ending left ankle injury against the Cincinnati Bengals last Thursday.

"My understanding is in talking with our trainer and the doctors is that it wasn't as bad as initially feared right after the game," Harbaugh said. "It's a little cleaner than they thought based on the MRI."

Harbaugh said Andrews is currently with Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the team will know more when he returns later in the week.

"There might be an outside chance he could get back at some point in time," Harbaugh said. "So we'll just have to see how that goes though. And I don't want to say that's definitive by any stretch, but there is some optimism."

Ravens Likely Lose Mark Andrews For Season With Ankle Injury

Nov 17, 2023 8:47 AM

Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews suffered what is likely a season-ending ankle injury on Thursday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.

"Mark Andrews has a very serious ankle injury," Harbaugh said after the team's 34-20 victory. "I think it's a form of a high ankle [injury] but more than just a sprain."

Andrews' injury sparked some controversy. On the opening drive, he was thrown to the ground with a "hip drop" tackle by Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson.

There was talk this past offseason that the NFL could outlaw that tackling technique in which the defender grabs the ball carrier from behind and pulls him down while dropping his own body to the ground.

"It was definitely a hip-drop tackle, and it is being discussed," Harbaugh said. "It's a tough tackle. Was it even necessary in that situation?"

Asked about Wilson's tackles that have resulted in players getting injured, Bengals coach Zac Taylor said, "I don't know anything about that."

Record 5 NFL Games End On FGs As Time Expires

Nov 13, 2023 12:48 AM

Jason Myers sent the Seattle Seahawks to a 29-26 win over the Washington Commanders on Sunday at Lumen Field when he hit a 43-yard field goal in the final seconds.

That kick also sent Week 10 of the NFL season into the record books.

The Seahawks' win over Washington was the fifth game of the day that was decided on a made field goal as time expired, joining the Cleveland Browns over the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans over the Cincinnati Bengals, the Arizona Cardinals over the Atlanta Falcons and the Detroit Lions over the Los Angeles Chargers.

Lamar Jackson: 'I Believe Our Defense Has No Weakness'

Nov 9, 2023 9:15 AM

Winners of four straight games, the Baltimore Ravens are getting a lot of national attention.

As the face of the franchise, Lamar Jackson is getting a lot of praise but the quarterback believes the other side of the football deserves just as much credit.

"Not trying to toot our own horn, but I believe our defense has no weakness," Jackson said, when asked how practicing against the Ravens defense makes him better.

"Just from the defensive line, the linebackers, the secondary, how they're flying around and disguising defenses -- making it look like one coverage, but it's something else -- and how they time up their blitzes, it helps us out a lot, because when we're playing other teams, they're flying around and giving us their best shot. It's like we're seeing one of the best defenses every day."

Roquan Smith Happy Career Didn't Go 'Down The Drain' With Bears

Nov 9, 2023 9:04 AM

A year after he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens, Roquan Smith expressed gratitude to the Chicago Bears for trading him.

The linebacker ultimately signed a five-year, $100 million extension with the Ravens.

Baltimore sits at 7-2 and is vying for the top seed in the AFC, while the Bears are 2-7 amid another troubling season.

"Man, it's pretty crazy thinking back to when I was initially traded," Smith said. "It was bittersweet for me, just knowing Chicago and rightfully so. But if I would've stayed there, honestly, [I] wouldn't have been able to compete for a title anytime soon. And then when I came over here, it took me a while, like a couple of weeks, to really realize how stacked this team was, as well as how many good people there are on this team, and how they just bring in truly good people.

"And when I just think about it from the perspective of having the opportunity to compete for one year in and year out with the talent we have. Man, it makes me so happy, just knowing my career is not going down the drain, in the sense of playing somewhere where I'm not truly competing for a title."

John Harbaugh: 'No Doubt' AFC North Is Best Division

Nov 7, 2023 7:55 AM

The AFC North is the only division in football where every team has a winning record.

"It would be just terrible if everybody was not a good team in our division," John Harbaugh said, drawing a laugh.

Through Week 9, all four AFC North teams hold a playoff spot.

"This is a great division," Harbaugh said. "There's no doubt it's the best division, it's proven."

No division in NFL history has sent all of its teams to the postseason.
