Dec 23, 2019 10:49 AM

The Baltimore Ravens have locked up the No. 1 seed in the AFC, but Lamar Jackson still wants to take the field in Week 17 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Yeah, I want to play. No doubt," the quarterback said. "But it's coach's decision. It's up to coach."

It has been reported that the Ravens planned to sit Jackson and start Robert Griffin III if they locked up the top seed.

Lamar Jackson Breaks Michael Vick's Single-Season Rushing Record

Dec 13, 2019 8:34 AM

Lamar Jackson made NFL history in Thursday night's victory over the New York Jets.

Jackson broke Michael Vick's single-season rushing record by a quarterback on the Baltimore Ravens' opening drive.

"It's pretty cool," Jackson said. "My favorite player growing up. It's amazing, and I'm going to cherish that forever and just got to keep it going. Records are made to be broken, like he said. I heard him say that, and it's an honor for me to do it."

The second-year quarterback entered Thursday's game needing 23 yards to surpass Vick's mark of 1,039 yards set in 2006. That record was shattered on Jackson's third run of the game.

Ravens Not Celebrating 'Expected' Playoff Berth

Dec 9, 2019 8:57 AM

The Baltimore Ravens clinched a playoff berth with Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills, which moved their record to 11-2.

"I tried to make a big deal about it in the locker room, and the guys kind of gave me a smattering of applause," John Harbaugh said. "They expected that; I think they've earned the right to expect that."

Baltimore can lock up the AFC North title with a win Thursday night against the New York Jets.

"We haven't done anything yet," Matthew Judon said. "Just to get in, it isn't enough. We got in last year and it wasn't enough. This game always leaves you wanting more. You got to make it to the next stage. That's what we're trying to do."

49ers Suspend Radio Analyst Tim Ryan For Comments On Lamar Jackson

Dec 4, 2019 10:05 PM

The San Francisco 49ers have suspended radio analyst Tim Ryan for comments about Lamar Jackson's skin during Sunday's game.

"We are disappointed in Tim Ryan's comments earlier this week, and have suspended him for the upcoming game," the statement said. "We hold Tim to a high standard as a representative of our organization and he must be more thoughtful with his words. Tim has expressed remorse in a public statement and has also done so with us privately. We know Tim as a man of high integrity and are confident he will grow and learn from this experience."

Ryan made the comments early in an interview on the "Murph and Mac" show on KNBR radio in San Francisco on Wednesday morning when discussing Jackson's success running the ball against the Niners. KNBR is the Niners' radio partner and broadcasts all of the team's games.

"He's really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson, but when you consider his dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing," Ryan said on air. "I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point."

49ers Hope To Meet Ravens Again 'Some Other Time'

Dec 2, 2019 8:59 AM

Sunday's game between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens was hyped as a potential Super Bowl preview and it lived up to the billing.

The game was tied at three different points and the San Francisco defense was as successful as any team has been at slowing Lamar Jackson this season. The Ravens won the game 20-17 on a last second field goal by Justin Tucker.

"I was really proud of the team," Kyle Shanahan said of his 49ers. "I thought they played extremely hard, all three phases. (We) definitely played against a real good team, but I was really happy with our guys and how they played. We had every chance to win that game. We came up a little bit short there at the end. Give credit to them. Hopefully, we can earn an opportunity to maybe get a chance to play them some other time again."
