Ravens Believe Anthem Protest Has Impacted Home No-Shows

Dec 22, 2017 4:56 PM

In a letter to season-ticket holders, suite holders and sponsors, the Baltimore Ravens believe the national anthem protest is one of the reasons why

"The numbers [of no-shows] are higher, and it is noticeable," Cass wrote in the 656-word letter. "There are a number of reasons for the no-shows, but surely the one-time protest in London has been a factor."

The Ravens' first protest as a team occurred in London on Sept. 24, when more than a dozen players knelt during the national anthem before the first NFL game of the day.

The Ravens knelt again at home before next week's game. Fans at M&T Bank Stadium booed the players when they took a knee.

The Ravens have not since protested.

Robert Griffin III Says He Turned Down Offers From Cardinals, Ravens

Dec 14, 2017 8:23 AM

Robert Griffin III hasn't found an NFL home since the Cleveland Browns cut him in the offseason.

The quarterback, however, claims he's had offers.

"I had an offer from Arizona, and also from Baltimore," Griffin told ESPN.

Griffin didn't want to be the fourth quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals and the offer from the Baltimore Ravens came right before the team's preseason opener and he didn't feel he had enough time to prepare.

"I had interest in the offseason," Griffin said. "It just wasn't the right fit and I had to make that decision for myself to say, 'Look, if I don't accept this offer, there's a chance I won't play football this year.' And I would talk to my family, and I was OK with that, OK with the fact that it might happen."

Infographic: Five Teams Rank In Top-10 In Offense, Defense DVOA

Dec 13, 2017 12:29 PM

The NFL has five teams ranking in the top-10 in DVOA on both Offense and Defense after Week 14. In an indication of how much turnover there's been in parts of the NFL, none of those five teams (Rams, Eagles, Vikings, Saints and Chargers) made the playoffs in 2016.

The Chiefs, Cowboys, Steelers, Falcons and Patriots also rank in the top-10 on offense, while the Jaguars, Broncos, Panthers, Ravens and Cardinals rank in the top-10 on defense.

The Seahawks, who have consistently been one of the NFL's top teams in DVOA during the Russell Wilson era, are just outside the top-10 in both categories.
