Saints Expect Michael Thomas To Be Ready For Camp

May 27, 2022 9:02 AM

Michael Thomas isn't participating in OTAs with the New Orleans Saints, but the team expects him back from his ankle injury in time for training camp.

Dennis Allen added that Thomas is present and rehabbing with the team during the voluntary workout period.

The 29-year-old wide receiver missed the entire 2021 season with the ankle injury after he delayed his first surgery to repair multiple ligaments until June -- then suffered a setback in November that required a follow-up procedure.

"I think he's doing well in his rehab. He's not ready yet. But he's here, he's rehabbing, he's getting himself better. And we're certainly anxious to get him out here," Allen said. "I know that he's working his tail off to get himself back. And we feel good about where he's at right now."

When asked whether Thomas will be ready for training camp, Allen said, "That's certainly our plan."

Judge Denies NFL's Motion To Dismiss Jon Gruden's Lawsuit

May 26, 2022 9:23 AM

A Nevada judge has ruled in favor of Jon Gruden on two motions, opening the possibility of a jury trial on his "tortious interference" claim that the NFL selectively leaked Gruden's emails to force his removal as Las Vegas Raiders coach on Oct. 11.

Judge Nancy L. Allf denied the NFL's motion to compel arbitration as well as the league's motion to dismiss the case outright. The suit will now go to trial unless a settlement is reached.

The NFL said in a statement given to multiple media outlets that it would appeal.

"We believe Coach Gruden's claims should have been compelled to arbitration, and we will file an appeal of the Court's determination. The Court's denial of our motion to dismiss is not a determination on the merits of Coach Gruden's lawsuit, which, as we have said from the outset, lacks a basis in law and fact and proceeds from a false premise -- neither the NFL nor the Commissioner leaked Coach Gruden's offensive emails."

Buccaneers Have No Timetable For Chris Godwin's Return

May 19, 2022 9:52 AM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't have a timetable for Chris Godwin's return from an ACL injury suffered last season.

Godwin signed a three-year, $60 million contract this offseason.

"When he's ready to go, he's ready to go. We don't put a timetable on it," Todd Bowles said. "He's coming along. Obviously, he's better than where he was. But, he's not where he needs to be. He's coming along – he works hard."

Dolphins Reach Agreement On Deal With Melvin Ingram

May 16, 2022 9:14 AM

The Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement on a deal with Melvin Ingram, according to a source.

The defensive end adds depth to a pass rush that was one of the NFL's most aggressive last season.

Earlier this month, the Kansas City Chiefs had placed the unrestricted free agent tender on Ingram, meaning his signing with the Dolphins will count against the NFL's compensatory-pick formula.

If Ingram had gone unsigned by July 22, the Chiefs would have retained exclusive negotiating rights to him at 110% of his 2021 salary, which would have been $4.4 million.
