Cooley Declares Himself Casualty Of Lockout
Chris Cooley says he's "100 percent" a casualty of the lockout.
The Redskins tight end on Thursday discussed the left knee injury that has sidelined him for the season. He had surgery at the end of last season and didn't rehabilitate it properly, even when it began to feel stiff during the offseason.
"I feel 100 percent -- and I'm not blaming anybody. I feel 100 percent that I am a casualty for the season, of the lockout," Cooley said, according to the Washington Post.
Redskins Lose Hightower For Season
Redskins running back Tim Hightower is out for the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.
In addition, wide receiver Santana Moss will miss 5-7 weeks with a broken bone in his left hand.
Washington has now lost five offensive starters to significant injuries in the last two games.
Hightower's knee buckled during a third-quarter run in Sunday's 33-20 loss to Carolina.
Redskins Lose Hightower, Moss To Injuries
Redskins running back Tim Hightower left Sunday's game against the Panthers early in the third quarter with an injury to his left knee.
Hightower tried to walk off the field, but had to be helped by teammates. He was carted off the field and taken to the locker room.
Earlier, the Redskins lost receiver Santana Moss to a left hand injury.
By the end of the half, Moss was seen wearing a bulky wrap around the hand.
Beck Replaces Grossman As Washington's Starter
John Beck will start for the Redskins on Sunday against the Panthers, replacing Rex Grossman.
The two took turns Wednesday expressing excitement and frustration, just as they did six weeks ago after Grossman beat Beck for the job coming out of training camp.
"Things change," Beck said, "in the blink of an eye."
Grossman was replaced by Beck in the fourth quarter Sunday after throwing four interceptions in a 20-13 loss to the Eagles.
Moss Endorses Grossman As Washington's Starter
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says he hasn't made up his mind who will start at quarterback next week.
Shanahan says he will announce Wednesday whether Rex Grossman or John Beck will get the call against Carolina.
Grossman was benched after throwing four interceptions in Sunday's 20-13 loss to Philadelphia.
Several players said Monday they support Grossman. Receiver Santana Moss said there's "no question" that Grossman should remain the starter, saying "that's not even something that should be asked."
Moss added that "you just can't give up on somebody because they had a bad outing."
Vick Takes Hard Hit, Returns To Field
Eagles quarterback Michael Vick was sidelined briefly during the team's game against the Redskins on Sunday afternoon.
However, he returned to the field after a single offensive series.
Vick's backup, Vince Young, threw an interception on his only pass attempt.
Vick left the game during the third quarter after taking hard hit from behind by safety LaRon Landry.
The Fox game broadcast reported Vick simply had dirt in his face following the hit, and the Eagles didn't announce an official injury.
Redskins Bench Grossman After Four INTs
The Redskins benched quarterback Rex Grossman to begin the fourth quarter on Sunday afternoon against the Eagles.
Grossman threw four interceptions, including three to Kurt Coleman, in three quarters. Philadelphia led 20-6 when he was replaced by John Beck.
The starter completed just nine of 22 passes for 143 yards.

Hall was a surprise new addition to the injury report Friday and was listed as limited in practice.
