The Rams are optimistic Steven Jackson will have a larger workload this weekend when they host the Redskins, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday. Jackson has been hobbled by a strained quadriceps muscle. He was hurt on the Rams' first play of the season against the Eagles.

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall says he "might have been a little overzealous" when he unleashed profane remarks targeting the coaching staff after Monday night's loss to the Cowboys. Hall stood at the podium on Wednesday for some 10 minutes to explain his one-minute spew in the locker room. "I might have been a little overzealous. You guys know me -- I'm passionate about football," Hall said. "I definitely feel that was a football game we should have won. I was pretty frustrated. The Cowboys might actually send me a bill. I broke a couple of things down there, so I don't know if I'm going to get billed for that." Hall was the victim on a 30-yard completion from Tony Romo to Dez Bryant that converted a third-and-21 during Dallas' game-winning drive. Afterward, Hall faulted defensive coordinator Jim Haslett for calling yet another all-out blitz on the play, saying it doesn't take a "f------ rocket scientist to figure it out after a while."

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is blaming the Redskins for all the snap issues he had with center Phil Costa on Monday night. Costa snapped the football before Romo was ready multiple times against Washington. Romo has accused Redskins defenders of yelling out their own snap count. "We've got to get the snap thing worked out," Romo said. "We'll get that worked out. We'll tell the league and see if that's something that can be fixed because you're not supposed to be able to do that. So we'll see. But we can't have that happen. We shouldn't have been in that situation." It is against NFL rules for defenders to imitate a quarterback's cadence or snap count.

After a close loss to the Cowboys on Monday night, Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall took shots at a referee and his own coaches for what happened on the late drive that ended with Dallas rookie Dan Bailey kicking his sixth field goal with less than two minutes left. The final Dallas drive was extended when Tony Romo avoided a rush on a third-and-21 play and hit Dez Bryant for a 30-yard completion. Bryant was dragged down by Hall, who was flagged for a facemask penalty that tacked another 15 yards on the play. "I told the ref after that call, that might have been his worst call of the game," Hall said during an expletive-filled rant. "He's going to get demerit points for that call. Because that wasn't no facemask." On the play the Redskins had eight men on the line, another thing that irked Hall. "Sooner or later, someone's going to (expletive) figure it out," Hall said. "You don't have to be a rocket scientist. ... The end result was a first down."

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall is placing a target on Tony Romo's ribs heading into this Monday night's game against the Cowboys. "Absolutely. I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever's hurt," Hall said. "Romo's ribs -- I'm going to be asking for some corner blitzes. If I know Felix Jones' shoulder's hurt, I'm not going to cut him. I'm definitely going to try to hit him up high, so that's just part of it. "If you know something's wrong with an opponent, you're going to try to target in on that. We're going to try to definitely get as many hits on that team as possible." Romo suffered a fractured rib and punctured lung at San Francisco on Sunday, but he returned to the game to lead the Cowboys to a 27-24 overtime victory.

Giants safety Antrel Rolle believes that his team's loss to the Redskins on Sunday afternoon was a fluke. "As a team and organization, we know that the Washington Redskins is not a better team than us," Rolle said. "We know that hands down. If we played them 100 times, they might win five. They won that day. It never leaves a good taste in your mouth when you lose to an opponent that you know you are better than." The two teams will play again on Dec. 18. Washington beat New York 28-14 in Week 1.

Giants defensive end Justin Tuck is likely to play Sunday against the Redskins despite a neck injury that kept him from practicing this week, according to league sources. New York is already without defensive end Osi Umenyiora, and having Tuck opposite youngster Jason Pierre-Paul would be significant.

Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has dropped his defamation lawsuit against Washington City Paper and one of its writers. Both sides issued statements Saturday night announcing the news, but with different interpretations. In an email from the Redskins publicity office, Snyder said the defendants had admitted that some assertions in the article were not intended "to be read as literally true." He said there was nothing further to be gained by continuing the lawsuit. The newspaper repeated its own assertion that the article never said any of the libelous things that were alleged.

Redskins tight end Chris Cooley says that anyone can win the NFC East, but the Eagles are clearly the class of the division. "I think Philly's the team to beat, looking at what they've done right now," Cooley told WJFK-FM. "But when you look at the NFL and you look at the East, everyone can be very good. I wouldn't be surprised ... to see New York and Dallas both being excellent football teams. It's a tough division and it always will be, but when you look at what Philly did and when you look at the players they have and coming off the year they had last year, I think they're a very good football team."
