GM: Haynesworth Could Return To Redskins

Jul 19, 2014 11:30 PM

Albert Haynesworth could return to the Redskins next season, according to general manager Bruce Allen. Haynesworth was suspended by the team for the season's final four games due to his conduct. "We were hopeful that he was gonna help the team win, and we remain hopeful that he can help the team win," Allen said. "Obviously, we went through a difficult time with the suspension. "But when we make those decisions, we understand that there's a human being involved besides just the player. Hopefully, if we give it some time to breathe, maybe we can come back with a fresh outlook on it."

Snyder Admits Mistakes, Says Redskins Belong To Fans

Sep 17, 2014 10:51 PM

Dan Snyder says that he's matured as an owner, acknowledged he has made personnel mistakes and said while he pays the players, ultimately the Redskins are "the fans' team." Snyder, who bought the team at age 34 and is now 46, said he has learned over the years to put his trust in the right people. "I think that you come in -- and I'm sure all of us originally -- you come in as a pure fan," he said. "And you don't appreciate the nuances of coaching or scouting or all of what's involved in the particular sport. And it takes some time to understand what that's all about, and how you have to have patience. The Redskins hadn't gone to the playoffs in eight years before I bought the team, and we were frustrated, so that frustration rubs off pretty quick. But I've learned to get the right people, and we did that with Joe Gibbs, we're doing that with Mike Shanahan, and I'm excited about where we're going."
