Vikings Remain Interested In McNabb Despite Drafting Ponder

The Vikings drafted Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder with the 12th overall pick on Thursday night, but the team is still interested in acquiring Donovan McNabb from the Redskins. League sources said Friday that the addition of Ponder hasn't changed Minnesota's desire for a veteran quarterback. Whether through trade or his release, McNabb is expected to eventually become a Viking.

Haynesworth Offered Plea Deal; Will Fight Charges

Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth allegedly slid his credit card into the bra of a waitress and then touched her breast, according to court papers filed Wednesday offering Haynesworth a plea deal in the sexual abuse case. Haynesworth's lawyer, however, said the deal was not one he'd take and that his client would fight the charge, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Redskins are rumored to be looking to move up in the first round of Thursday night's NFL Draft. Rumors suggest that Washington could move up as high as second overall in a deal with Denver, which owns the pick. A number of general managers believe the Redskins are looking to put themselves in position to draft Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert. Gabbert may be available when the Redskins come up at the 10th overall pick, but there are no guarantees.

Haynesworth Charged With Sexual Abuse

Redskins defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth was charged Tuesday with misdemeanor sexual abuse for allegedly fondling the breast of his server in a hotel restaurant in Washington. A grand jury returned an indictment formally charging Haynesworth over the alleged incident at a downtown Washington hotel in the early hours of Feb. 13. If convicted, the All-Pro faces up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
