Chargers To Test Seattle's Rookie Saftety Thomas

Sep 8, 2014 4:08 AM

San Diego's passing game is predicated on their receivers getting past opposing team's safeties, which will lead Philip Rivers to test rookie Earl Thomas. "They've got a real style about them," Seattle coach Pete Carroll said. Thomas has played well in his first two games. His 15 tackles lead the team, but he hasn't had any chances to show off the range and instincts that made him the 14th pick of the draft. "I've got to come in the game with a different mindset," Thomas said. "Because I really haven't gotten challenged deep so far."

Seahawks Won't Pursue Leinart

Jun 10, 2014 12:19 AM

Having been cut by the Cardinals, Matt Leinart appears to be a perfect fit for the Seahawks. However, Clark Judge of CBS Sports writes that Seattle won't pursue the young quarterback. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was Leinart's college coach at USC. "Apparently, Seattle is satisfied with its two quarterbacks, Matt Hasselbeck and Charlie Whitehurst, despite Whitehurst's inconsistent play this summer. But the club paid a steep price to acquire Whitehurst from San Diego and envisions him as Hasselbeck's successor, and the Seahawks didn't want to complicate the situation by introducing another young quarterback," Judge writes.

Houshmandzadeh OK With Possible Trade

Oct 22, 2014 8:38 PM

Seahawks wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh isn't bothered by rumors that the team may be looking to trade him. "I could care less. It doesn't bother me. I knew before y'all knew. If it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't," he said. Houshmandzadeh caught 79 passes for 911 yards and three touchdowns in his first year with Seattle last season. "I don't care. I can't control it. It's kind of out of my control. Like I said, I'm ready for whatever so if it happens - wherever I go - I'm going to make it happen, and if it don't happen, I'll be here, and I'll make it happen. That's how I look at it," the receiver added.
