April 2010 - Seattle Seahawks Wiretap
Seahawks Sign Special Teams Star Morey
Seattle has signed special-teams standout Sean Morey to a multiyear contract.
Morey is expected to replace Lance Laury as the Seahawks' special-teams captain.
Bears, Seahawks Talking Brown-Sims Swap
According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears and Seahawks are discussing a trade involving defensive end Alex Brown.
Chicago could consider trading Brown to Seattle for guard Rob Sims, per the Tribune.
Brown isn't expected to attend Chicago's offseason conditioning program that begins Monday.
Seahawks Trade For Charlie Whitehurst
The Seahawks will acquire reserve quarterback Charlie Whitehurst from the Chargers.
He has yet to attempt a regular-season pass in the NFL, but Seattle is willing to give up draft-day position this year and next to land the restricted free-agent.
Seattle and San Diego will swap second round picks and the Chargers will receive the Seahawks' third-round choice in 2011.
The Seahawks are expected to sign Whitehurst to a two-year contract that will pay him more than $4 million per season.
Eagles, Seahawks Swap Defensive Ends
The Eagles have traded defensive end Chris Clemons to the Seahawks in exchange for defensive end Darryl Tapp.
In addition, Seattle will receive Philadelphia's fourth-round pick in next month's NFL Draft.
Tapp has 18 sacks, two interceptions, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries in 65 games.
"Darryl is a very intense football player and we're happy to acquire him," Eagles coach Andy Reid said. "He plays very hard every snap. He's smart, he's a good person and he'll fit very well into our defensive scheme."
Whitehurst Weighs Offers From Cards, Seahawks
The Cardinals and Seahawks have extended contract offers to Chargers restricted free-agent quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, a source told NFL.com.
Whitehurst was San Diego's third quarterback behind Philip Rivers and Billy Volek this past season.
Seahawks Reach Agreement With Baker
The Seahawks have reached an agreement with tight end Chris Baker, according to a league source.
Baker will sign a two-year, $4.75 million deal that includes $2.75 million in the first year with Seattle.
Seattle Interested In Kolb
Strong indications are that Seattle is indeed interested in acquiring Kevin Kolb.
There has been no indication that the Eagles are really interested in trading him. They still only have McNabb, who turns 34 in November, under contract for 1 more year. If they felt confident enough in their long-term quarterbacking situation to trade Kolb, they'd surely want McNabb locked up longer than that.
Eagles sources have acknowledged lots of inquiries about the three quarterbacks, including Michael Vick, all of whom are in the final year of their contracts. But no trade seems imminent.
Browns Acquire Wallace From Seahawks
The Seahawks have traded backup quarterback Seneca Wallace to the Browns for an undisclosed pick in 2011.
Wallace, a seven-year veteran, had spent his entire career in Seattle.
Cleveland general manager Mike Holmgren always liked Wallace during his many years in Seattle.
"This will give Seneca a chance for a fresh start," Seattle general manager John Schneider said in a statement. "The Browns front office's familiarity with his abilities will give him an opportunity to compete for playing time. We wish him nothing but the best."
Tebow Has Workouts With Seahawks, Bills
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow has scheduled individual workouts with the Seahawks and Bills prior to the NFL Draft.
Tebow will also throw for NFL scouts at Florida's pro day on March 17.
While the Seahawks have committed to veteran Matt Hasselbeck next season, they need a long-term solution under center, and the Bills also are seeking a quarterback.
Seahawks Strongly Considering Brandon Marshall
Pete Carroll and the Seahawks are strongly considering signing Broncos restricted free-agent WR Brandon Marshall.
Marshall is expected to visit Seattle with the hopes of completing an offer sheet.
Thomas Jones Could Land With Browns, Chargers, Texans, Seahawks
The Browns, Seahawks, Chargers and Texans could target Thomas Jones.
