Ryan Upset Washington Isn't At Workouts

Jun 6, 2014 6:02 AM

Jets coach Rex Ryan isn't happy with running back Leon Washington's decision to skip the team's voluntary workouts. Washington is the only member of the team that hasn't reported. "He may have reasons for not being here or whatever, but the rest of the team volunteered to be here," Ryan said. "We would love to get Leon back." Washington, recovering from a broken right leg, was rehabilitating at the team's facility until he was offered a second-round restricted free-agent tender earlier this month. He's free to sign an offer sheet with another team, and the Jets would have a week to match it.

Glanville Claims He Couldn't Get Favre Sober

Oct 31, 2014 2:21 PM

Thom Abraham of WNSR in Nashville interviewed former Falcons coach Jerry Glanville, who defended the decision to trade Brett Favre in blunt terms. "I had to get him out of Atlanta. I could not sober him up," Glanville said. "I sent him to a city where at 9:00 at night the only thing that's open is Chili Joes. You can get it two ways, with or without onions. And that's what made Brett Favre make a comeback was going to a town that closed down. If I would have traded him to New York, nobody to this day would have known who Brett Favre ever was." Favre has been candid regarding his issues with alcohol and painkillers, which he eventually beat several years ago.

Jun 24, 2014 3:05 PM

Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie has reportedly paid more than $25,000 in overdue child support. "We're looking forward to him having a fresh start here with us and we're going to work with Antonio collaboratively to make sure we can do everything we can organizationally to give him the best chance to be successful," Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said. Thomas Not At Voluntary Workout, Never Said He Wanted To Be A Jet

Sep 12, 2014 9:22 PM

Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas was not in attendance Monday for the start of the team's offseason program at Gillette Stadium. Thomas told the Boston Herald that he was not even aware that the voluntary program had begun. He is under contract to earn $4.9 million in 2010 and said last month he is not sure where he will play next season. His name was linked to the Jets this offseason after comments made by New York linebacker Bart Scott. "I've heard of all the chatter up there about me," Thomas said. "It was about something Bart Scott said on TV, [and] that's not what was said ... I have never told anyone that I wanted to leave and go play for the Jets."

LT Chose Jets For Chance To Win, Live In NY

Sep 12, 2014 9:22 PM

LaDainian Tomlinson decided to sign with the Jets because they give him a chance to win and he can also live in New York. "There would be no greater place than to bring a championship to the city of New York," Tomlinson said during a conference call Tuesday. Tomlinson chose New York over Minnesota, signing a two-year deal worth about $5.2 million on Sunday with the Jets after visiting both teams last week. "It was pretty tough, but when it comes down to it, you've got to go with your gut feeling, no matter what," Tomlinson said. "You've just got to go with a feel, and that's what I did." Tomlinson had spent his entire career with the Chargers. "I couldn't see the future, but I always wanted to live in New York and have the opportunity to play on that wonderful stage," he said. "Obviously, now I get that opportunity and I'm excited about it."
