Kadarius Toney Undergoes Surgery For Partially Torn Meniscus

Jul 25, 2023 2:36 PM

Kadarius Toney had surgery to repair a partially torn meniscus in his knee on Tuesday morning.

"There's a chance for the first game,'' Reid said of a timeline for Toney's return. "We'll just have to see how the recovery goes with him. But I mean he's bound and determined he's going to be there for the first game. We'll see how it goes.

"I'm glad they caught it, that it happened this early where he can get himself back. We've got a lot of time still left. He's a smart kid so he picks his stuff up fairly easily. I don't think he's going to have a tough time getting back in. It's just [a matter of] getting back into football shape.''

Toney suffered the injury on Sunday.

The Chiefs last year traded a couple of draft picks for Toney, a first-round pick by the New York Giants in 2021.

Chiefs Have No Interest In Alternate Uniforms

Jul 25, 2023 8:59 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs have no plans to introduce an alternate uniform.

Introducing a new or retro uniform has become commonplace in the NFL.

"It was something that my dad felt very strongly about, going all the way back to the early '60s. He wanted a lot of continuity in the uniform and we've tried to maintain that over the years. I think we have a very distinct brand with the red and white, and I don't anticipate steering away from that any time soon," owner Clark Hunt said.

Chiefs Believe They Can Renovate Arrowhead, Stay For 25 More Years

Jul 24, 2023 8:48 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs have been playing at Arrowhead Stadium since 1972, but the team doesn't believe they need a new stadium.

Clark Hunt said the Chiefs are optimistic that with renovations, Arrowhead could remain the team's home for another few decades.

"We do feel optimistic about that. We spent a couple years studying the structural integrity of the stadium, and early this year we preliminarily concluded that Arrowhead could be renovated and extend the life for up to another 25 years," Hunt said.

Hunt, however, also acknowledged that the Chiefs could look to build a new stadium.

Patrick Mahomes: 'Everybody's Motivated' To Repeat

Jul 19, 2023 8:46 AM

A Super Bowl champion hasn't repeated since the New England Patriots did it following the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Patrick Mahomes says the Kansas City Chiefs are focused on ending that streak and winning a second consecutive title.

"Everybody's motivated by that," Mahomes said.

"You should be motivated to do it again. When you have that parade, when you go through the offseason that I've been through, you want to do it again," he said. "You only get those opportunities by winning the Super Bowl. And so for us, we want to make sure that we can build up and try to win that Super Bowl again because that moment, that feeling is something that you just wanted to grab every single time that you get the opportunity to do it."

Patrick Mahomes: Andy Reid Lets Me Play QB The Way I Want To Play It

Jul 13, 2023 1:44 PM

Patrick Mahomes opened up about Andy Reid has helped his career by letting him be the best version of himself.

Since his redshirt season as a rookie, Mahoes has won two MVPs, two Super Bowls and has reached at least the AFC Championship in all five seasons.

"He's meant the world to me. He's just the best," Mahomes said of Reid. "He's the best coach, obviously, one of the best coaches of all time, but he's just one of the best people of all time. He's learned how to get the most out of me every day. He doesn't let me be satisfied with where I'm at. He teaches me a ton.

"Not only the quarterback position, but how to be a leader and how to be a great dad and how to be a great husband. He lets me be who I am every single day. I think if I'd have went to some other places, I would've had to learn how to play the quarterback position a different way, and he just lets me play the quarterback position the way that I want to play it. I think that's what's made me such a different type of quarterback in this league."

Chiefs Optimistic About Extension With Chris Jones

Jul 11, 2023 11:50 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs are optimistic about their chances of signing Chris Jones to a contract extension.

An extension would lower Jones' cap hit from over $28 million, which would give the Chiefs some cap space this season.

Jones was a first-team All-Pro at defensive tackle in 2022 after being a second-team All-Pro in 2018, 2020 and 2021.

Report: NFL Placed Blame On Chiefs, Eagles For Slippery SB LVII Field

Jul 5, 2023 8:23 AM

The NFL hasn't said much about the slippery conditions of the field during Super Bowl LVII, but privately they've been placing blame on the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report.

Owners have been asking the league why the playing surface was so slippery, and the NFL has responded by blaming the Chiefs and Eagles for not wearing the right cleats in the game.

The field conditions during the Chiefs' 38-35 win also got a big thumbs down from George Toma.

The man known as "The Sodfather," who has worked all 57 Super Bowls as either a groundskeeper or consultant, pinned the blame on NFL field director Ed Mangan for overwatering the field and not sanding it enough.
