Patrick Mahomes Still Rehabbing High Ankle Sprain

Apr 17, 2023 10:50 PM

Patrick Mahomes said he is continuing to rehab his high ankle sprain.

"It's been more about just kind of managing it, getting the mobility back as best as I possibly can," Mahomes said Monday as the Chiefs began their offseason program. "I wouldn't say I'm 100%. ... It's just when you go through a grind of a week of training and you're trying to push it and go through the rehab process, but at the same time you want to make sure you're still building, you might be a little sore on the weekends. But I think we've done a great job of pushing it to the right limit to where now I'm throwing.

"There will still be a little bit of limitations going the next few weeks, but I'm going to be happy with where I'm at and we'll keep pushing it and getting me to the right spot before the beginning of the season."

The Kansas City Chiefs have added wide receiver depth by agreeing to terms on a deal with Richie James, according to a source.

James, 27, caught 57 passes and scored four touchdowns for the New York Giants last season.

The Chiefs lost two of their top wide receivers from last season, JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman, in free agency.

Isiah Pacheco: 'I Still Feel Like There's More To Improve'

Apr 4, 2023 9:03 AM

Isiah Pacheco led the Kansas City Chiefs in rushing (830 yards) as a rookie, but the running back sees room for improvement heading into Year 2.

He also had 197 yards in the postseason run and a Super Bowl touchdown.

"As a seventh-round pick, I always had something to prove, for the doubters," Pacheco said. "If you dream big, you could go get it, go grab it. That's something I always had in mind of being on this stage, on this level. It feels unreal, but it's real and it's here and so I have to embrace it."

Kansas City used a seventh-round pick to draft Pacheco last year.

"Being able to extend the things I'm able to do, that comes with work in the offseason," he said. "For me, I still feel like there's more to improve … I'm satisfied with the [Super Bowl] win on my first [appearance], but I'm unsatisfied because I know that there's more that could've been done out there.

"One of the [biggest] things I improved on, [is] eliminating the distractions. I could have a thousand things going on, a lot of people hitting my phone up. I just kind of sit it on silent, sit it to the side. When it's time to work, it's time to work."
