Feb 25, 2023 6:58 PM

The Chiefs stayed within the organization for their new offensive coordinator, promoting Matt Nagy into the spot as a replacement for Eric Bieniemy.

Nagy, 44, was the Chiefs' offensive coordinator on Andy Reid's staff in 2016 and 2017, their last two seasons with Alex Smith as starting quarterback. The Chiefs were 20th in the league in yards and 13th in scoring in 2016 but made a jump the next season to fifth in yards and sixth in scoring.

Chiefs Expected To Use Franchise Tag On Orlando Brown, Jr. Again

Feb 20, 2023 9:02 AM

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to use the franchise tag on left tackle Orlando Brown, Jr. for a second-straight season, according to a report.

Brown earned a fully guaranteed $16.7 million under the tag in 2022. A second straight tag would boost those earnings by 120 percent, meaning he'd be due just under $20 million in 2023.

The Chiefs offered Brown a six-year, $139 million extension prior to the 2022 season, according to a report, but the two sides failed to reach an agreement on a long-term deal.

Former GM Compares Bryce Young To Patrick Mahomes

Feb 14, 2023 8:14 AM

Potential No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young has drawn high praise from former Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman.

"I think he has a lot of Patrick Mahomes style to him, and by that I mean he is one of the best off-schedule throwers that I've seen coming out of the collegiate game," Spielman said. "He does a great job for a small quarterback with his vision down the field. His anticipation and the way he throws the ball and he throws receivers open."

Young completed 64.5 percent of his passes for 3,328 yards, 32 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 games played for Alabama this past season.

The biggest concerns about Young are related to his size. He's listed at 6-foot, 194 pounds on Alabama's website.

"Now, if this guy was 6-1, 210 pounds, he's a generational type quarterback, in my opinion," Spielman said. "But since he's so small, everybody's going to be nervous as heck to take him, because one, is he going to be durable enough to go through a preseason, go through 17 games, go through -- if they get all the way to the Super Bowl -- that many games and stay healthy? So that's a big concern I think with a lot of teams."

Brandon Graham Eyes Strip Sack Of Patrick Mahomes

Feb 10, 2023 8:45 AM

Brandon Graham is hoping history will repeat itself on Sunday in Super Bowl LVII.

Graham had a strip sack of Tom Brady late in Super Bowl LII to help secure the Philadelphia Eagles' first-ever Lombardi trophy.

Five years later, the defensive end is looking to make the same play against Patrick Mahomes.

"Man, getting a strip sack on him too, that'd be nice," Graham said. "But we're going to have some fun, man. He's definitely the GOAT because he's already won one and you can see he's been here a lot of times already. And he's young.

"Credit to him and his hard work and Coach [Andy] Reid, being paired up with a good coach, and just taking full advantage of his opportunity."
