Jaguars Sign Landry Jones

Oct 31, 2018 1:48 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Landry Jones.

Blake Bortles suffered an injury to his non-throwing shoulder, but is expected to play in Week 10.

Jones, whom the Jaguars recently had in for a workout, spent the past five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jones went 3-2 as a starter in place of Ben Roethlisberger. The Steelers cut Jones on Sept. 1, opting to keep Joshua Dobbs as Roethlisberger's backup.

Malcolm Jenkins: Jaguars Are Proof Colin Kaepernick Deserves Job

Oct 25, 2018 8:33 AM

While preparing to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, Malcolm Jenkins says he saw proof that Colin Kaepernick deserves a job in the NFL.

There has reportedly been a riff between Jenkins and Eric Reid, who share a place on the the Players Coalition. The issues spilled over onto the field during this past week's game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers.

Reid disagreed with an agreement between the Players Coalition and the NFL in which close to $100 million was earmarked for causes considered important to African-American communities. Reid wanted Kaepernick to have a bigger influence and said Jenkins "co-opted with the movement that was started by Colin to get his organization started. It was cowardly. He sold us out."

Jenkins refused to take shots at Reid, but did issue support for Kaepernick.

"While our main focus is always on the community and those systemic oppressions, how we can leverage our relationships, our access and resources to help people in everyday communities, there is still a responsibility to speak out on Colin Kaepernick, who started this movement and still doesn't have a job," Jenkins said. "I wholeheartedly believe he is being blackballed, to speak out in support of Eric Reid, who put his job on the line to fight for those who didn't have a voice.

"I have always maintained every chance I get to say, Colin Kaepernick started this, Eric Reid deserves a job, Colin Kaepernick deserves a job. I can turn on the tape this week and our opponent and see Colin Kaepernick deserves a job. But at the end of the day, when I started this, my personal journey to help my own communities, it was never about the NFL or anybody having a job in the NFL. It was about people -- everyday citizens where I come from, where I live in Philly, and all across this country. And so at the end of the day, my decisions will always be about people."

Jaguars To Start Blake Bortles, Keep Him On 'Short Leash'

Oct 22, 2018 8:12 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars will stick with Blake Bortles as their starting quarterback.

But Cody Kessler will see some first-team reps in practice and Bortles will be on "a short leash."

"I spoke to both quarterbacks this afternoon and told them that Blake will be our team's starting quarterback," Doug Marrone said in a statement. "I believe this gives us the best opportunity to win."

Bortles had completed 6 of 12 passes for 61 yards against the Texans at the time he was benched.

Jaguars Acquire Carlos Hyde From Browns For 2019 5th Rounder

Oct 19, 2018 5:30 PM

The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired Carlos Hyde from the Cleveland Browns for a fifth round pick.

Leonard Fournette is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.

In addition to their own selections in the first six rounds, the Browns have acquired a third-rounder from the New England Patriots, Jacksonville's fifth-rounder, another fifth-rounder from New England and a conditional seventh-rounder from Jacksonville.

Jaguars Sign Jamaal Charles

Oct 10, 2018 8:41 AM

With a number of injuries at running back, the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed Jamaal Charles.

Leonard Fournette is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury and No. 3 running back Corey Grant was placed on injured reserve with a Lisfranc injury in his left foot.

T.J. Yeldon, the starter in Fournette's absence, has a nagging ankle injury.

The Jaguars also promoted first-year back Brandon Wilds from the practice squad.

"I've been trying to do all my condition work, just trying to stay in shape just in case I got anybody to call," Charles said. "The reason why I wanted to come here, really, was because I wanted a potential shot at a Super Bowl. That's why I still kept my options open. I really want to win a championship."

Jalen Ramsey: Tyreek Hill More KR Than WR

Oct 5, 2018 8:17 AM

Jalen Ramsey doesn't view the chance to line up against Tyreek Hill in Sunday's game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs as anything special.

According to Ramsey, Hill is more accomplished as a return specialist.

"I don't like how whoever has made it a matchup me against Tyreek," Ramsey said. "He's good for what he does for their team. He made All-Pro as a return specialist -- let's get that right, as a return specialist -- his rookie year. He went to two Pro Bowls as a return specialist -- return specialist -- two years. I made All-Pro in my position as a corner. Went to the Pro Bowl as a corner. So it's not a wide receiver versus corner matchup, so we can get that out of the way off the bat."

On Wednesday, Hill said he was looking forward to the matchup with Ramsey at Arrowhead Stadium. He said Ramsey is "all right I guess" and hopes that Ramsey plays press coverage against him.

Hill also called Ramsey a great player and the top dog among corners in the NFL and said he can't wait to play against Ramsey.

"I just wish he would have picked a side, you know?" Ramsey said. "Either I'm just all right or I'm the top dog. Pick a side. If I'm the top dog but I'm just all right, that means he doesn't think that any corner in the league is good. And that's not true."

Leonard Fournette Out Indefinitely With Hamstring Injury

Oct 1, 2018 5:21 PM

Leonard Fournette will be out indefinitely after aggravating his right hamstring.

Doug Marrone also said he's unsure when the team will be able to determine how much time Fournette will miss.

"I really don't know," Marrone said. "Believe me, if I knew exactly what the deal was and I could tell you -- three [games], six, 10, IR, whatever -- I would. I just don't know. Those injuries are tough. We talked about it by position. We talked about it by player. We've talked about it every other way. "I thought he was looking good. ... You guys see him working [in practice] ,but it's different when you're playing a game. The game's different."
