Dolphins Trade Smiley To Jaguars

The Dolphins have reportedly traded guard Justin Smiley to the Jaguars. ESPN Insider Adam Schefter reported the trade on Monday. The trade is pending Smiley passing a physical, sources said, and it is not yet known what Miami will receive in return.

Scobee Fails To Qualify For U.S. Open

Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee has failed to advance to the next round of qualifying for the U.S. Open. Scobee shot an 81 at Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville in hopes of qualifying for the storied golf tournament. Former major league pitcher John Smoltz also failed to qualify.

Jaguars Still In Talks To Sign Sharper

Jaguars general manager Gene Smith says he remains in conversations about signing free-agent safety Darren Sharper. "Darren I think had an exceptional visit here," Smith said. "He sees a great fit, a great opportunity with an ascending team. I'm confident that we can be good for each other." Sharper had nine interceptions and seven passes defensed for the Saints in 2009.

Garrard Vows To Rebound For Jaguars

Jaguars quarterback David Garrard feels challenged and vows to rebound after a rough season. He says he's had the best offseason of his career and he'll do everything to make Jacksonville's offensive better. "I think any time any man is challenged it's going to bring something out of you," Garrard said Sunday. "It should. If another man is going to challenge you, and you are really a man, then you're going to rise to the occasion. I want to be better. I want to be greater." The Jaguars passed on taking any of the top young quarterbacks in this year's NFL Draft. "Absolutely," Garrard said. "It's a pivotal year for all of us, no bigger year than it is for me."

Jaguars Add Another SDSU Alum In Freddy Keiaho

The Jaguars? revamping of their linebacking corps continued on Friday when they signed free agent Freddy Keiaho. The 27-year-old spent the past four seasons with Indianapolis, where he made 250 tackles and picked off one pass in 22 games. He had his best season in 2008, when he started 14 games and made a career-high 114 tackles. The 5-foot-11, 226-pound Keiaho, who was a third-round pick in 2006, played four seasons at San Diego State, where he was a teammate of current Jaguars linebackers Kirk Morrison and Russell Allen and receiver Kassim Osgood.
