Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio says running back Maurice Jones-Drew has not had surgery, contrary to reports. There have been rumors that Jones-Drew underwent knee surgery. "No," Del Rio said. "No, has not happened, is not necessary. He's working, rehabbing, strengthening and gearing up for the regular season."

The Jaguars are shutting down top running back Maurice Jones-Drew for the remainder of the preseason. Jones-Drew missed three days of practice this week with soreness in his knee and didn't travel with the team for Saturday's preseason tilt against Tampa Bay. He did not undergo arthroscopic knee surgery this week, sources told ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is upset over his perception that the team is disrespected. "It's funny, the only time you see us on highlights is when it's somebody else's highlights. They go back to find that team against the Jaguars. It's crazy and it's real disrespectful. I've brought it up a bunch of times. It just adds fuel to the fire. NFL Network, ESPN, they all do it. Every time," Jones-Drew said. Jones-Drew knows the national storylines about the Jaguars are about ticket sales, potential blackouts and long-term instability. "Message received: Everybody thinks we're a joke," he said. "It just keeps us going through this hot camp, keep working hard. That's our motivation. We try to joke about it, but sometimes it's hard to joke."

The Jaguars announced Sunday night that Tyson Alualu has verbally agreed to a five-year contract that will end his four-day holdout. But his agent, Kenny Zuckerman, said Alualu has not agreed to accept the deal. Zuckerman said that he recommended that Alualu take the deal, but said Alualu and his family said they "will pray on it" before making a final decision.
