QB Trent Edwards Headed To Jacksonville

Showing just how frustrated they are with quarterback David Garrard, the Jaguars claimed former Bills starter Trent Edwards off waivers Tuesday, according to an ESPN.com report. Edwards is expected to sign a contract Wednesday morning and join his new teammates at practice later in the day.

Tebow Rushes For Two Yards In Debut

Broncos backup quarterback Tim Tebow rushed for two yards on two carries in his first regular-season NFL game on Sunday against the Jaguars. Tebow is Denver's No. 2 quarterback after supplanting Brady Quinn to play behind Kyle Orton during the preseason. He rushed once in the first quarter and then again in the second. Tebow lined up as a receiver in the first half as well.

Jaguars Give OL Nwaneri $24M Deal

The Jaguars have locked up starting offensive lineman Uche Nwaneri with a five-year, $24 million contract. The deal includes anywhere from $8-$9 million guaranteed, according to an NFL source. Nwaneri was set to make $1.01 million in the final year of his rookie contract.

The Bengals have traded cornerback David Jones to the Jaguars for safety Reggie Nelson, according to a report. Jones started seven games in three seasons with the Bengals. Nelson, a first-round draft pick by the Jaguars in 2007, amassed 187 tackles and seven interceptions in 45 games.

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew expects to practice next week despite missing five straight sessions. He denied a report he had arthroscopic knee surgery, but acknowledged that he has been "taking care of all the nicks and bruises." "I wanted to be out there with my teammates, but we felt the best thing for me was rest and rehab and getting my body back right ..." Jones-Drew said. "I feel great. I can't wait to get out there and play Denver. They are the first hurdle in our road to success and I can't wait to get out there." Jones-Drew started every game last season and finished with a career-high 1,391 yards and 15 touchdowns.
